Chapter 2: A reason to live

 The first day of high school is supposed to be exciting, but I just couldn't feel anything, my mother was abroad, I lived alone so nobody could cheer for me that I finally made it to high school. The day felt just like any other.
 I was walking on the hall of the school with a big pile of books we got for this year, I couldn't see anything in front of me. At that moment I suddenly felt something in front of me that pushed me and made me fall to the cold ground. I look up and see one of the upperclassmen looking at me with a smile. "Be more carefully, you don't want to make me mad". He looks at his friends and they start laughing, then they left, leaving me on the floor. I thought to myself "I should kill them". Then suddenly I saw a hand in front of me, I looked up and saw a boy with black hair and black eyes, he helped me get up and helped me take all the books to my classroom.
 "I'm sorry that you had to meet those guys from the first day, my name Yamada Taro from class 2-2. Nice to meet you". He smiled at me, his smile warmed my heart, a feeling I haven't felt in a long time. "I'm Aishi Ayano, nice to meet you senpai". He waved at me as he left the class.
The first day of school did actually become a happy day for me, because I found a reason to live, a purpose to exist for. The feeling of love was the first that came to me, after that came the feeling that I need to protect him at any cost, protect myself from the dark, dark place I was in before. And the way I will stop him from being stolen from me is to kill every person that would try to take my senpai away from me. Kill them, yes, I'll kill the ones that say in front of my happiness even if it kills me in the process.
 "Aishi Ayano". I hear my name called by the homeroom teacher. "Yes" I say raising my hand. After he finished calling all of the students he starts talking about our schedule and at the end he says "It's important to join clubs in high school so you should think of what clubs you are interested" . The teacher continue to talk and I thought that it would be a great idea to join the Martial Arts club, that way I could be able to protect senpai.
At the end of the day I looked for my senpai and saw him leaving with a girl with orange hair put in two long ponytails. The moment I saw her touch his shoulder I knew she had to die a painful death.

 A reason to live... Yes, he's the reason for my existence.

 The next day I decided to go early to school and meet senpai at the school gate, I waited until classes were about to start but he didn't appear.
At lunch I went in the schools courtyard to eat the cheap lunch I bought at a supermarket on my way back home from school yesterday. Then I saw senpai, two boys, one of them from my class and the girl that he was going home with yesterday. I start looking at them without realizing that I do. Then the boy on senpai's left also looks at me and our eyes meet, he also had black hair and black eyes. He looked away and said something to senpai, then he also looked at me and said something back. Then suddenly the boy gets up and starts walking towards me. "Hi, I'm Masuta Budo, would you like to join us?". I stare for a little, not realizing what is happening. "If you are waiting for someone... sorry if I bothered you". Then I jump up and say "No, I'll come if you don't mind, and my name is Aishi Ayano". He smiles and we walk back to the group.
 "Hi, we met yesterday in the hallway, do you remem..." senpai is suddenly stopped "Aishi-san, we are in the same class, I'm Haruki Hayato" says almost screaming the boy with green hair that was sitting on the grass next to the fountain where me, senpai and Masuta Budo were sitting. "Shut up Hayato, you are so annoying" says the girl with ponytail that were so long if she bowed they would touch the ground. "Stop it you two, you are always fighting!... So, Aishi-san, why were you eating alone, I'm sure the girls in your class would love to sit with such a cute girl like you..." he turned slightly red when he realized what he said. "It's just that I like being alone during lunch time" I tighten the grip on my lunch box and look down. "That's right, you haven't eaten anything since you came here" said the girl. "I'm not hungry" I say then I look up at her and see, just slight evil in her eyes. "So you didn't finish it, can I have it?" she takes it from my hands before I can answer and opens the box "What is this, is it one of those gross shop lunches, eww" I turn red, grab the lunch from her hands and run to my class.
 What is wrong with me? I usually don't get embarrassed by the fact that I live alone or that I don't know how to cook. Is it because of senpai, because I was sitting next to him? Is he changing me?
 Before the class starts Haruki-san enters and behind him are senpai and Masuta-san. They come to me and senpai says "I'm sorry for what Osana said, she is a nice person she just doesn't like being with strangers" he smiles at me the same way he did when we met, the smile that warmed my heart and made me happy. "I'll make her apologize to you" says Masuta-san. "It's fine, she doesn't have to, I was just upset over nothing". Then the teacher comes in the class and tells the two of them to leave.
 After the class is over and the teacher leaves, Haruka Kokona and Miyu Saki, girls from my class, take two chairs and sit next to me, Haruka-san starts talking "Hi, Ayano-chan, we saw you talking to the senpai's and I wonder if you could help me, I have liked Yamada-kun since middle school and I would be forever grateful if you could help me meet him somewhere" What! She wants to steal away my senpai! I will kill her and she will suffer the worst death possible. "Um, I'm not that close to him, but I will try and I will tell you as soon as possible", "Thank you so much, give me your phone so I can exchange phone numbers, I'll even add Saki's number, because we are now friends... There, all done, and you can call me Kokona if you like". After that we talked until the next teacher came in the class.
 Yes, I'll be their friend so they will trust me and I will give her the death by her best friends hands. Finally those books on brain washing might be useful.
 After the last teacher left the class I decided to go join the martial arts club. When I got there I saw Masuta-san "What are you doing here Aishi-san?" He looked confused. "I want to join the club","Oh, sure, but you won't be able to start the activity today, since you don't have a club uniform or sportive attire". He just looked at me for no reason, then I decided to break the silence "Don't you have any extras I could borrow? I'm really looking forward to this clubs activities". He looked at a girl from the club and went to talk to her. He came back a few minutes later "You can borrow this costume since the girl this belongs to injured her leg and isn't allowed to practice for a few days either way". He gives me the uniform and I go change.
When I finish I come out and say "It's a bit big for me but I think it's fine" I show him the sleeves that are so long that you can hardly see my fingertips. He looks at me without saying anything again. "Are you okay?". "Yes... sorry, just thinking what to make the others do today since I'll be teaching you the basics".
 I'll get stronger and protect senpai.
 "The rest of you just repeat what we did yesterday. Now, Aishi-san, come here, I'll show you what to do and how".
 After some time while struggling to do a move Masuta-san comes behind me and guides my arms into the right position, then he puts his hands on my waist slowly, his hands were warm, he moves me slightly to the left. My face turns red.
What! Why do I feel this way, is it because I imagine senpai doing this to me?
 Masuta-san comes back in front of me and see's my red face "S-sorry" he also turns red. "What are talking about?", "You face is red...". What is he trying to say, it's annoying. "I'm red because been moving for an hour..." I love senpai and I'm here for him.
 "We are done for today, Aishi-san, let's go together to the gate".
 When we reach the gate we are greeted by senpai. "Budo, what took you so long, you make me come early to school and now you make me wai... Aishi-san what are you doing here?".
Masuta-san starts talking before I can say anything "She joined the martial arts club and even if she said it's her first time she is really good". He's so annoying, he doesn't let me say anything to senpai and stands between us. If he wasn't useful I'd kill him.
 Senpai looks at me "Wow, you must really be good, because Budo never says anything good about the other members, just that they are lazy". Senpai thinks I'm good! I'm so happy!
"So what way is you home?" asks Masuta-san. I show them the direction. "Great, we are also going that way, we can walk together from now on" Walk home with senpai instead of following him from behind, this is the best day ever!
 On the way home we talked, but when senpai got home me and Masuta-san stopped talking, he tried to ask some things but I wasn't interested in answering and I just ended up ignoring most of them.
 "This is my home, but I can walk you home since you said it's close". How persistent can he be? "No, it's fine, I need to stop by the shop anyway, bye". He once again stared pointlessly at me and then finally said "Bye, see you tomorrow, come by early, so we can walk again together". "Fine".
 After that I just went to the shop and bought another "gross" cheap lunch pack and went home to dream about senpai.

  Authors note:
Hope you enjoyed this second chapter, could you tell I accidentally made Osana a bit more mean and Ayane a bit like a tsundere? I didn't intend to do that, I realize later and I left it this way because I find little twists like this interesting.
Also the part with Ayano and Budo totally was inspired by a photo I saw on the internet with them together, like the one in the media.
