Chapter Twenty One

Cameron's POV

"I don't... love you anymore,"

Those words hurt. I felt like somebody had thrown a ton of bricks on top of me. The pain. It wouldn't go away. My heart was pounding. My eyes stung. My body was getting hotter and hotter. Nothing seemed real. I have never thought those words would hurt so much. I didn't realise how much Lexi meant to me. How much I loved her. How much I needed her. It may seem weird. A boy getting hurt. Normally, it's the other way round. But, I feel crushed. I feel hurt. I feel nothing.

"Cameron-" She started. She lifted her hand from under the table and went to put it on top of mine. I pulled my hand away instantly.

"Cameron, please-" 

"No!" I shouted. The whole cafe was looking at us now. It was silent. I felt around thirty eyes looking at us. Lexi looked shocked. She looked up to me as I stood. I grabbed my jacket and walked out. 

"Cameron, wait!" Lexi shouted, from inside. As I walked onto the pathway outside, I felt a hand on my shoulder. 

"Cameron!" 

"What? What do you want Lexi! There is nothing I can say to you!" I screamed. People were avoiding us and crossing the road to walk. Some people stood and stared at us. 

"You can at least say okay," Lexi said quietly. She shuffled her feet, dropping her head.

"Okay? You want me to say okay? Alright then. Okay! It's okay that you have absolutly no feelings for me anymore. Its okay that my heart has just been crushed. It's okay for me to feel this way. It's okay! Okay?" My face was about two inches away from Lexi's. My breath was coming out in short puffs. My body heat had reached out 40 degrees. I had no control on what I was saying. My feelings were all over the place. 

"Why are you doing this, Cameron! Why are you blaming everything on me! I haven't done anything wrong! I have simply just told you my feelings. I didn't want to lead you on!" She shouted back. I had never seen her this angry. Her cheeks were red. Her eyes were bloodshot. Her hands were shaking. I paused, unable to think of what to say next. 

"I have to go," Lexi said, before pushing me out the way to walk off down the street.

"I can give you a lift? If you wanted?" I shouted back to her. But she ignored me. She kept walking. Without looking back. 

What had I done.
