The next day they wake up and Johanna got ready right before Caspian. He complained she took too long to which she decided to do her makeup a little extra and try to make her usual bun a little nicer. When she walked out she threw a cheesy smile in Caspian's direction and picked up her phone.
She opens her text messaging app and notices she has one new message.
Blocked Number: 4
She raises an eyebrow at it. Blocked numbers aren't good especially to her. She'd just ignore it but no one accidentally gets her phone number. She forwards the message to the FBI but an uneasy feeling remains there.
"Hey J, aren't we going swimming today?" Caspian asks popping his head out of the bathroom.
Johanna tosses her phone on the bed, deciding to ignore it for now.
"Yes, and since when do you call me J?" She asks, busying herself by stretching out her quads.
He shrugs nonchalantly and turns away before she could see his face flush. The nickname just rolled of his tongue so easily, he didn't even realize he had said it. She laughs at him as he ducks back into the bathroom.
"Caspian I think you forget that I'm an excellent deducer," She says smirking slightly still stretching her leg.
"Yes Miss Sherlock Holmes," he replies closing the door quickly.
He hears a thud as a shoe or something hits the door. He laughs taking his toothbrush out of his bag.
"It's actually Mrs. Sherlock Holmes idiot," she yells.
Caspian rolls his eyes even though she can't see him. He would bet money that Johanna is actually smarter than Sherlock Holmes but Johanna would probably be offended for Sherlock Holmes.
He finishes up in the bathroom and walks out and over to Johanna on the bed.
"Yeah bye," she says before hanging up.
"Who was that?" Caspian asks sitting down next to her.
"Phil," She says tucking her phone away. "He wanted to know what we did yesterday. He also said I was a show off."
Caspian chuckles grabbing his flip flops and pulling them on. It's Saturday and all the kids are extremely excited to go swimming. Caspian thought he was a pretty great swimmer, not amazing but he could swim for a pretty long time.
"Do you like swimming?" Caspian asks Johanna as they walk down the staircase into the living room.
"Not really," she replies. "Training is the worst thing imaginable. It's like military training mixed with police training except worse. I learned how to swim by them dropping me out of a helicopter in the the ocean somewhere near Hawaii. I had to swim to land and survive there in the hot jungle for a few weeks before they took me back."
Caspian feels his jaw drop. He knew that training to be agent would be tough, but they couldn't just drop someone in the ocean and expect them to live.
"And they just expected you to live?" He asks, still not quite able to grasp the reality of the situation.
"Yep," she says matter of factly. She didn't seem disturbed by the fact that they literally stranded her in order for her to get trained.
"Do they do that everyone?" He couldn't help but wonder other horrible things Johanna has had to go through in order to become an agent.
"Yeah eventually." She grabs her bag and pulls on some sunglasses. "I'm just glad they taught me wilderness survival skills before I got dropped."
"What do you mean?"
"Well Phil wasn't so lucky, he was dropped after they taught him basic hand to hand combat. The agency puts your training in a scramble if that makes any sense. They might drop you first which I've heard of happening once or twice. It might be the last thing you do it depends."
"How old were you?" He asks. He didn't want to ask anymore but he couldn't imagine a young Johanna stranded in Hawaii wondering if she'll live to see 20.
She pauses what she's doing, trying to think. It's like it's a common thing in her life, to just be dropped in the middle of nowhere.
"Uh I think 13?" She says, opening the door and walking out.
Caspian scrambles up, quickly rubbing his stuff and rushing out after her.
"13? When I was 13 I was worrying about asking Ellie Clark to the dance!" Caspian nearly shouts.
She shrugs nonchalantly.
"Well I'm here now so obviously it couldn't have been that hard," she says. She then turns around and walks down the stairs, ending the conversation.

"I regret this," Caspian says in a deadpan voice as the small children around him giggle.
Currently, the only part of Caspian you can see is his head poking out of the sand. Sharon's grandchildren had gotten the great idea to bury him and give him a mermaid tail. Johanna had helped the kids tackle him down and held him down until he realized he couldn't fight back. She currently helped the kids make the tail prettier by placing the shells they gave her on the tail.
"Jojo!" Gianna yells rushing over quickly with two things in her small hands.
"What's up G?" Johanna responds as the small girl runs into her arms.
She opens up her arms to reveal two huge pieces of a coconut. Johanna's eyes light up with glee as she takes them.
Caspian cranes his neck trying to see what the fuss is about without ruining the sand art thats currently trapping him.
Johanna walks over and plops the two coconut shells on top of where his chest would be. She arranges them to look like a bra that an actual mermaid would wear. After she's deemed it satisfying enough, she takes a few steps back and starts giggling.
"Jojo he looks like a real mermaid now!" Gianna exclaims happily.
Caspian rolls his eyes. He didn't sign up to be tortured like this.
"Take a picture! Take a picture!" Gianna yells running over to Johanna's back and pulling something out.
Caspian sighs and flops his head back down to stare at the sky. He hears the click of Johanna Polaroid as she takes a picture of one of his lowest moments. He hears her shaking it, waiting for the film to develop.
"Let me see!" Caspian yells.
Johanna shows him the picture, Caspian glaring at nothing in particular, and yes he looks absolutely ridiculous.
