{Layla's POV}
I walked out of the cafeteria towards fourth period, science. This is my first day here but it's not like I'm new to schools entirely. I understand the school, yet I can't seem to understand the students.
Some of the students, that are seen as popular, are rather smart. While the other populars are simply the jocks. Then, there were the dorky smart ones, the dumb ones, the terrible attitude ones, the art kids, and finally there was the group I joined.
They see themselves as the outcasts, though most of them are theatre kids. Elly seems to be the leader, although it's hard to tell in the beginning. I don't know how to feel about these outcasts. My father would most likely tell me to not make friends with them. That only those who are popular are worth my time, too bad I don't care what he thinks.
I stepped into the classroom as my new teacher glanced up only to point me towards a seat in the back. I trudged to the empty seat and put my stuff down. Looks like I'm stuck here, at least it's near a window. I looked out that window as my thoughts drifted through my past.
I typed on my laptop as a new message popped up, "You'll love it here." A little smiley face emoji followed. I smirked and sent her my reply, "Hopefully as much as you love emojis."
I laughed while reading her next message, Nicole sure was texting a lot today. She said it was because there was no practice, practice for what? Sighing, I typed goodbye and set my phone down. Here I am, in California. Awaiting the clock to turn to seven and I will board that plane. We're headed to Texas, land of burning hot weather and land. Nothing very exciting...
I have always loved California, with its beaches and parties and all the other cool things! Now, I must move to the Lone star state. The only thing I'm looking forward to is seeing Nicole.
We have been talking on the internet for three years, but I haven't even gotten a glimpse of her face. I know a lot about her, yet I don't know the color of her hair or eyes.
I picked up my suitcase as I heard my parents yelling, "It's almost seven, get ready." The airport was as loud as ever. Putting my earphones away, I shoved past every person I could.
Finally, I had managed to find my parents and board the plane! We ride across the land for a very short time. Landing in Texas, we went home and started to unpack. It was frustrating to see a new house. But I suppose it's there for a good reason.
The day came for me to start school. And I wasn't ready. Nicole had already met up with me and introduced me to Mar, Lu, and Morgan. I was told there was another member who was dumb. Elly.
I turned away from the window as the teacher began to actually talk. We were learning about the conflict of a book they read before, The Wave. Of course I haven't read it, but I've been told it's about Hitler. Strange...
"Finish your bubble map and turn it in. After that, you can do... whatever!" Mrs. Rozas said.
I turned towards a boy with short brunette hair.
"Excuse me, can you help me?" I asked.
"Sure." The boy said with a smile. "I'm Travis, by the way."
"Nice to meet you Travis, I'm Layla!" We exchanged smiles and he helped me with the project. He sure is cute.
A/n- Sorry for the short chapter! And the sudden break! Travis isn't really a main character. Just some random guy they know. Thanks for reading! Bye-bye!
