{Elly's POV}
My alarm phone started to ring as it vibrated my whole bed. I jolted awake and rubbed my eyes. Today was the day I audition for a play called The Picnic. Sure, I was excited and all, but who wants to wake up at six a.m.?!
I could hear the oven beep as the oven door opened and the smell of bacon rushed to my nose. I suddenly jumped out of bed and quickly got into my khakis and white polo.
"Oh, it seems you smelled the bacon," my mother was right on the other side of the door with her hand in a knocking position. "There's a plate in your normal spot, eat and leave."
"Yes, mother," she walked to Lia' s room giving me a perfect side view of her baby belly. The doctor said she only has six more months to go!
I made my way into the kitchen and sat in my chair. My poor mom had to assign seats because we constantly would fight over who sat where. I smiled while thinking about the times when we were six.
Absentmindedly I stuck my fork in the eggs and brought it to my mouth. It tasted perfect. Just the right amount of salt and pepper. I smiled while staring at the plate. There were many different ways today could go. I could ultimately fail and get a background role or I could do amazing and get a lead. It's obvious what I was hoping for.
"Are you thinking about how badly you'll lose to my awesome acting skills?" I saw Lia sit in her chair with a smirk. "I plan to get the lead role this year!"
We both giggled at her plan. We have always competed for everything. Grades, roles, class place, and well, anything.
"Yeah, and I'll be doing tech like always," Ar sat down as we stared. "What? Have I already managed to get jam on my face?"
Even though we all laughed it was tense. Ar had told us she was auditioning for an acting role a few days before but She always does that and ends up wanting a tech job more. She was so indecisive when it came to big decisions.
Quickly, we finished our breakfasts and began the short walk to school. During which both Ni and Lu came to join us...
"So, how is my wonderfully in love best friend!" Ni said rather loud as she approached Lu and I.
"Oh, shut up..." My face flushed a dark red and I could just feel the heat from my cheeks emanating and warming the air around me.
"Who knew that you would start dating before Ni!" Lu was laughing while smirking and it rather freaked me out as she winked at me.
"More like when I am not dating. Geez, it really is just adorable that you could possibly lile someone!"
I puffed out my cheeks as Ni continued to tease. "It seems like our little Elly has grown into a woman! Although when I look back it feels like just yesterday was puber-"
"Be quiet! Yeesh... You two are quite embarrassing, you know that?" I sighed a breath of relief as she didn't make any attempt to complete her sentence but the slight smirk and downcast of her eyebrows had me worried.
Five minutes later we had arrived at school and were walking to class.
I entered math with Ms. Murphy two minutes before the bell and gratefully sank into my desk before lying my head down onto my arms. Relaxation felt like heaven as I felt muself slowly drift into sweet-
"I see you have decided to show up again, Ms. Fim." The cold and cal ulating voice of my teacher called me out in front the entire class. I looked up. "If you came that means you will be learning not sleeping so keep that head of yours up and your mind attentive."
"Yes...*yawn* ma'am."I mumbled as a few students giggled in the background.
"Alright, study session! Grab a partner and test your knowledge!" Ms.Murphy called out as students' voices murmured throughout the room.
I turned to come face to face with Lu and Ni. "Partners?"
"Nope." They both answered simultaneously.
"Wait, what?! Wh-" I began to cry before they shut me down.
"You shall be partners with Mar and that is final." Both of them turned around so that I knew they would ignore anymore attempts to argue. They seemed to be so nice when we first met. What made them irritating? Oh, right... Me.
I turned myself even farther in my desk to have a view of Mar working alone. Before I had even told my body to do so it stood up and walked over to him. Almost as though the sight of his loneliness upset me more physically then I could possibly bare.
"Hey, mind if I partner up with you?" Anyone could tell that my voice went an octive higher as I spoke with him. It just happens when I get nervous, which oddly enough happens quite often.
"No, go ahead." He looked up at me and gave a smile that melted me both inside and out, but that might be the overwhelming heat coming from the outdoors. It is Texas after all.
Ttogether we began to work on problems while he caught me up on all that I missed. The whole time a light shade of pink was on my cheeks as we smiled and laughed together as though we were sharing secrets and jokes instead of math tutoring. I don't think I could ever admit it to anyone else but several times my eyes wandered past his neck and to his broad shoulders. The slight muscles that could be seen under his sleeves I found quite attractive.
Math ended too quickly for my liking as we headed to English. It felt like old times as the original outcast squad Mar, Ni, Lu, and I walked the hallways in a tight group shoulder to shoulder. We weren't the kings and queens of K.V. but the ones who actually make the difference. We are the people. I could almost see the jocks and cheerleaders rolling their eyes and unnaturally proportioned bodies in disgust. Mostly because they often do. How do you even roll your body in disgust?! They woukd know I suppose...
The day ended sooner then I expected as we headed to the theatre room of Mr. Wyckoff. I led our huge group with Ni, Lu, Mar, Morgan, Lia, Ar, Belle, and LC. We are the ultimate squad!
When we arrived Mr.Wyckoff took the girls in a separate room to do a cold reading while the boys stayed in the classroom to wait.
A/N- Hey guys! Now, to be honest, this will not be a scheduled thing but I had a lot of time this week since school is out for Thanksgiving so I got bored and decided to look back over this story. It sparked some emotions and creativity so I decided to make another chapter and see where it leads me. No promises that another will be posted next week or this week but I will have another chapter before the new year. Even if at 11:59 it will be there! Thank you so much for reading, bye-bye!
