In the aftermath of the First World War, five friends decided that they’d do everything they could to prevent a repeat from history.
Nine millions of people had just died in the Great War and despite the creation in June 1919 of the League of Nations, they knew that worldwide peace would never be achieved.
They were called Adam Cook, Jon Etchegoyen, Samuel Reynolds, Philip Crane and Daniel Spencer.
Four American citizens, whose families were amongst the wealthiest in the U.S, and the heir of a successful French aeronautical engineer company.
Adam’s parents had a holiday home in Biarritz where they’d spend four weeks every summer. Jon lived in the manor next door with his parents. They were nine years old when they first met and became inseparable.
When they turned fifteen, Adam begged his parents to take his two best friends with them for the summer. They agreed on the condition that Philip, the strange son of one of his father’s friends came along too. That’s how Jon met Samuel, Philip and Daniel.
Adam and Jon came up with the idea of creating a secret organization that would infiltrate society within its roots instead of leading it from above. They thought that being where the crimes take place without a uniform or any label would help anticipate and reduce it.
Samuel and Daniel, who had both attended the MIT, were the ones who dealt with everything related to security, communication and all the equipment used by the members.
Adam and Jon focused on the organization of the different teams while Samuel and Daniel set up training classes that each member was to follow from the age of seven.
Philip’s specialty was chemistry. He was more of a practical man and he spent most of his time in his lab so that the others nicknamed him The Scientist. He was the one who chose the name of the organization, the Secret Undercover Nation, or S.U.N along with the blue sun shaped tattoo on the inside of the members’ left wrist.
In the mid 1990’s he also came up with the idea of implanting a tracking chip under the tattoo to always be able to locate any S.U.N member, which his friends found ingenious.
Today in 2013, the S.U.N has more than twenty thousand members infiltrated in sixty three countries
Every day its members fight to maintain peace in their district, town or region.
YOU are one of them. One of US.
Ok, so maybe it’s not a sect…
I sighed.
I now understood why the boys had been so quiet today. They were anxious about my reaction to this.
My first training class.
After practice, Tim had driven me to his former primary school. He’d then led me to a tall building at the back of the school, where he told the receptionist who we were.
Less than five minutes later, a brown-haired man who must have been in his late forties, came to the waiting area where we’d been sitting.
He shook Tim’s hand warmly before turning to me.
“So I finally get to meet the infamous Maya Cook.” He teased me before reaching his hand out for me to shake.
“Hmm… Hi?”
I didn’t have a clue about what I was doing there so I looked at Tim questioningly.
He looked worried, which scared me even more.
What the hell is happening?!
“My name’s Robert Collins, Maya. Do you know why you’re here?”
