I positioned my body so that my back would take the fall and I could see what was going on with the insects. It was as if they had a barrier baring them from going further.
Every time they hit that invisible wall they fell towards the ground and flew back up trying to get past. They didn't, and I just kept falling and falling. It felt like I feel forever like that time had stopped.
I couldn't feel my body anymore. I turned my body so that my chest would hit the water and my back was directed towards the cliff.
It felt as if I was falling for hours. I stared into the dark pit and almost missed the ripples going through the dark pit. I barely realized that it was water before I had to assume a divers position. I hit the water with a loud splash.
I opened my eyes and saw that underneath the water was partially illuminated. Swimming would be difficult if I continued further to the bottom seeing that I was not prepared to hit water.
All the oxygen in my lungs was pushed out by the force of the water. I swam back to the surface, to catch enough oxygen to fuel me until I found my way out of the water.
I concentrated and tried to calm my breathing while at the same time trying to find a way out of the water. There was no escape on the surface since I could see water for miles. With the light being underwater too I figured I could only come out under water.
Once I was ready to finish this obstacle. I dived back into the water following the light that was provided. It was easy to follow the light because it was just glowing in one direction.
I felt movement behind me and my senses were alerting me to a presence around me. Sharply looking around I saw some of my classmates swimming in the same direction as the light.
Even though I was not supposed to, I felt sort of relieved knowing I had company in this hell hole. They said nothing, only acknowledged me with their eyes. We swam all the way to the bottom.
The further we went the colder it got. But we were trained to withstand cold and heat so this didn't bother me. It felt like we're swimming for days. Even though we had our bodies advanced we could still get tired. That was our disadvantage.
I was just about to get tired when we came to a dead-end. Only it was not quite a dead end but a hole that was covered. Multiple holes that was covered in an iron latch door.
I saw the rest of trainees looking at the holes and each started to go towards them. I tugged at the latch door, it wouldn't move.
I pulled again. It still would not comply. I started to get a bit frustrated because I was running out of air supply. I pulled with all might. It did not even budge.
I was getting antsy and I felt a bit of fear. I have never felt fear before. This was a new emotion and I did not like it. I was desperate for the door to open. I was taught that desperation is dangerous. A desperate person would do anything to get whatever they want and it could end up killing them.
That was how I currently felt. I stood there at the door trying to come up with a plan. I looked around and all the trainees were gone. I went to take a closer look at the latch door to see if there was a special way to open the door.
I saw a string connecting to the latch. I swam further down to the bottom of the he and saw that I was not a string but a rope. I tugged on the rope, and the latch door opened slightly.
I was in trouble now. I only had about a minute of air supply and then water would be taking over my lungs.
I pulled this time with everything I had left and the latch door swung wide open swallowing me in it.
I sputtered water and started coughing slowly opening my eyes to take in my surroundings. I found myself lying on a desert floor
