I knew that if I crossed the rope it would trigger whatever that was in the cave wall. So I slowly crossed the rope with one leg and drew back running to a corner of the cave watching to see what would happen.
Nothing happened, absolutely nothing. No noise, no dangerous animals, nothing.
I feared leaving that corner, feared coming out and got caught in a trap. Headmaster would never let me forget it. I would be dropped from my upcoming mission. That would not be pleasant.
But I still had to move, I couldn't stay in that corner forever, so I tiptoed to the rope still trying to come to terms with this suspicious trap. I put my hand cautiously against the opening in the wall and quickly drew back my hand.
I tried that for a second time but a bone chilling scream uttered by one if the trainees caused me to jump back, almost falling in the process.
I scolded myself for being such a coward. My reputation was not built by me being a coward. Headmaster Lion was watching and I needed to make a good impression.
Chancing a walk over the rope, I stepped over hoping that I would end up with life on the other side of that rope.
I went over with no complications and I quickly walked away, occasionally looking back. I knew better than to be relieved because I still felt suspicious.
Walking on I noticed that the cave got wider, looking back to where the rope laid I still did not see anything. I walked on taking in my surroundings.
I heard a buzzing noise. Coming from the opening of the cave which I could barely make out now. It got louder and louder as if a horde of bees had taken up residence.
The first insect came rushing towards me. And then the swarm came, only these were not bees but a lab created insect that was pretty fatal to humans.
I took off, running at top speed trying to get to a ledge that looked like it was a small gap between this side of the cave and the other side. Oh how wrong I was!!!. Little did I know that this was just the beginning of my tests.
I got to the edge and realized that it was not a small gap to the other side but a cliff and below was a black abyss, I couldn't see what it led to nor could I see what exactly was down there.
But I had to jump, there was no other way, the insects where fast approaching and I had no idea if I would survive their stings.
What I thought was the other side of the cave turned out to be a dead-end.
The other side was actually a Great Wall. This wall was smooth as well preventing any sort of attempt to climb. I had to trust that when i jumped i would not end up in a far worst situation than what i was encountering at the momentI could hear the insects closer now. I knew jumping would be the only way so I took some steps back and jumped.
