I sidestepped as one of the mermen tried to stab me with heir trident. I then swung my sword at their waist, cutting them in half. When I did, it immediately got back together, as if nothing had happened.

"You fool," one of them said. "We are in water, our homeland. You can't kill us here."

I was cut in the back while I wasn't looking and stumbled forward. I quickly regained my balance and turned around.

When I touched my back, I felt my wound begin to close, and no blood came from it. I smiled and said, "I received Poseidon's blessing, so that goes for me too."

It seemed like they didn't care, and kept on attacking. Finally, I began running toward the castle on the ocean floor. The mermen chased me with their weapons ready.

When they caught up, I made a quick turn and kept on running. I knew I couldn''t do this forever, and I had to find a way to lose them. I leaped up and began swimming, which was much faster.

Suddenly, a wave of darkness appeared before me. It surrounded me, and then engulfed me. Instantly, new strength and power filled my veins.

Good luck, kid, a voice from the darkness said. If you kill one of them now, they'll stay dead. You have my blessing, too, kiddo. Now kick Oceanus's butt.

Then the darkness disappeared and I stood in front of the mermen once again. I charged at one of them, and before they could do anything, I thrust my sword at their chest. It connected perfectly, and the merman turned into golden dust, which was swept away by the water.

I turned around to face the others and asked, "So who's next."

And as stupid as they were, they attacked. In a few minutes, there was nothing left but me standing with Lightning in my hands.

I smiled at myself and continued with my Operation jake To The Rescue. The drawbridge was opened for me and I stepped inside. It was pretty much empty, except for the table in the middle of the room with Beth tied on it.

"Beth!" I called as I ran to her.

Out of nowhere, water appeared beside Beth, which took form of a man with a tornado of water from waist and down. He was bald, and had dark blue eyes. He also wore a blue shirt witht he words: Oceanus.

     "Oceanus," I read the shirt.

"How did you know?" he asked.

"Your shirt gave you away," I said.

He looked angry. "Those nymphs! I told them to get me a scary shirt, but this is what they get me. I couldn't come half-naked, now could I?"

     "I completely agree."

"Thank you! At least someone understands."

"I do, I do. So . . . do you mind if I get Beth back now?"

"NO! If the gods really depend on such children to bail them out when they're in trouble, then they're weak! If I take one of them, another will come, and then another, and another. Soon, I will have the key to saving the gods."

I put Lightning away and began clapping. "Genius plan. But how do you know that the others will come?"

"I have people everywhere. They're on their way as we speak."

"Well, I'll be gone long before the get here."

     He grinned. "is that right?"

I took Lightning back out and charged. As I attacked, he dissolved and appeared behind me. He smacked me sides, and I crashed into the solid stone walls. A second later, the pain was gone and I stood back up.

He smiled. "Not bad. You're not as weak as they told me."

     "Who?"

     "My servants."

Come on, Jake, Poseidon's voice said. I gave you my blessing, and you're still this bad? Try sensing him as he moves through the water. With the blessing you received from me, you should be able to.

     Thanks, Poseidon, I thought.

I attacked Oceanus and he dissolved again. I sensed around for him, and when I did, I swung my sword in that direction. I managed to cut him on the arm, and golden blood trickled form his wound.

"How is that possible?" he asked shockingly.

     "I got Poseidon's blessing."

"That stupid boy," Oceanus said. "Taking my power from me. I will get him back for this."

We fought for several more minutes, until Oceanus couldn't dissolve anymore, or barely move. I went up to him as he lay on the ground, severely wounded. I brought my sword up and stopped when the hilt was over my head.

Oceanus looked up at me with no expression at all. "I am immortal. You cannot kill me. Mother Earth will rule this world either way."

I brought sword down right on his chest. More golden blood poured from him as he tried to crawl away. I ignored his moaning and ran to where Beth was tied up. I cut the ropes with Lightning and set her free.

She hugged me tightly and kissed me on the cheek.

"What took you so long?" she asked as she retrieved her sword from under the table.

"Just don't worry about it," I said. "Lets just get out of here. Other mermen must be coming by-"

Several mermen gathered around the exit of the castle. I sighed and took out Lightning.

"You've got to be kidding me," I said.

Black, blue, and gray aura surrounded me, and my strength increased again. I gripped my sword tighter and got ready to face the mermen.

"Jake, did you perchance receive blessings on your way here?" Beth asked.

I nodded. "One from Poseidon, and another from someone who was shaped as darkness."

Her eyes widened as she realized what this meant. "You are already the son of Zeus, giving you one blessing. Then a blessing from Poseidon, making it two. And the darkness you're talking about surely must've been Hades. Chiron has told me about the Blessed One, who posses blessings from the Big Three. It is said that with those blessing, he can be a huge threat against the gods themselves."

"That can't be good," I said. "Then I might be in big trouble if I begin to turn, huh? Anyway, we can continue this later. We have to get going."

I charged at the mermen with my new power and Beth close behind me. I slashed through the first row of mermen, and stepped back to let Beth get the second. We did the same routine until we had cleared our way.

"We make a pretty good team," Beth stated.

"I guess you're right," I said. "By the way, how can you breath underwater?"

"Oceanus touched my forehead I was brought ot him. Then he dove into the water and swam to his castle with his arm holding my leg."

"At least you're okay. Come on."

We swam out of the force field and continued upward. After a while, the light above began brighter and brighter. Finally, we came to the surface and took deep breaths.

We swam to shore and laid down.

After resting, we got up and looked around.

     "Where are we?" Beth asked.

     "I don't know." I said.

"Looks like more demigods washed up on my island again," said a female's voice.
