Ammolite's first day part 1

Ammolite's pov

I felt like there was a bag of rocks in my head I as started to wake up.

"Is this bad Garnet, she won't wake up." I opened my left eye and found myself on a beige couch. It was kinda stiff, but it felt so much better that rock like bed they had me on which was something just the very hard ground.

"Steven, I assure you she will be fine. She lost a lot of blood she has to regain her supply, it would be the same thing with you."

"Why couldn't we call Connie's mom, Dr. Maheswaran, she'd know how to..."

I couldn't let the poor boy continue to worry so I sat up. "Steven I'm fine..." I said softly. It kinda hurt still but I wasn't going to tell him that.

"Oh my stars!" he excitedly hugged me. "I thought Pearl killed you."

"It takes more than a Pearl to kill me." I laughed nervously.

"Don't underestimate her abilities, she fought along Rose quarts many times during the gem wars." The mysterious gem said as she stood behind Steven like a body guard. "May I ask for your name?"

"The gems at home world called me Ammolite... I honestly don't remember my human name," I felt the a tear come out of my eye, "out of everything that's the only thing I can't remember."

"Wait... Ammolite..." The Amethyst perked up from behind a counter with a sandwich in her mouth, "I've never heard of that... But I don't know many gems."

"It's formed from fossils, more specifically ammonites. I was experiment and they managed to make one. On me." I rubbed my arm right below my gem.

"Can I touch it," Steven sounded nervous to ask, "the gem I mean."

"Sure..." I held my arm out for him to touch my gem. He traced his finger around the spiral on the gem.

As Steven touched my gem a door slammed open and scared the crap out of me.

Why are you being such a coward you're never like this. I scolded myself. Stand straight, I straightened my posture, feet shoulder with apart, I glanced to see if my feet were where they needed to be then I straightened myself back up.

"Connie, this it Ammolite," Steven dragged a girl who seemed to be a little older than him. She had long fully black hair, and glasses without lenses?

I guess the doesn't really need them. I reached my hand out to her, "Nice to meet you Connie."

"Hey!" Steven jumped with excitement. "Do you want to get some doughnuts?"

Before I could respond I was being dragged out of the building.

"Oh hi Dad, this is..." Steven stated.

"Kat? Is that you?" A short man with long brown hair and a beard, he had a pretty red sunburn just about everywhere on him.

I examined the man for a bit, then I realized who he was. "Greg?..." I couldn't believe it was really him. He looked like an old man now...

The man hugged me. "I would say you haven't changed but that hair... Wait your arm.. " he grabbed my wrist and raised my arm to see my gem.

"Greg," I said nervously. He let go of my arm and hugged me. "How long have I been gone?"

"You really don't know?" He sounded surprised. "You've been missing for 34 years."

Steven and Connie were just standing there surprised.

"That can't be right? Can it?" Connie asked. "She looks like she is about 16 or 17."

"Remember, half human half gems age slower than human." Steven whispered to Connie.

"What," I looked around at them, "so you're like 46 years now... Wait I went by my home, but..."

"You're family aren't here anymore... Umm... You're father died the day you vanished, and you're mother couldn't handle losing both of you..."

"They're both..." I felt tears come to my eyes.

"No, no, no..." Greg said frantically, "you're mother is in the hospital, she hasn't been fit to live alone for quite some time." He turned and looked at Steven. "Why don't you and Connie go a head and go get your doughnuts. I would like to catch up with Kat for a bit."

"Ok," he pulled Connie along. "I didn't know my dad had any friends that were human girls" he whispered to her.

After they left me and Greg walked around as I told him about what caused me to get the gem.

"I can't believe they tested on a 14 year old girl, and I can't believe you're really here still." Greg said as he rubbed his neck.

"Yea, I had been trying for a while to get back honestly if that ship didn't crash I wouldn't even set a foot back on this planet." I looked at the sand as it shifted beneath my feet.

"The Crystal Gems and Steven caused that. Honestly we have been having a hard time cleaning that mess up." He kicked a small rock into the ocean.

"So Steven is your son right?" Greg nodded his head, "what else have I missed out on?"

"Well, I officially started the rock star dream around the age of 20, I fell in love with Steven's mother around 24, I quit the rock dream, we had Steven, but his mother gave her life for his, the gems helped raise him, he is now 14, I legally changed my last name to Universe when I started the rock star dream. And I helped your mom out and took her to the hospital."

"About her," I sat down in the sand. "Do you think she would believe I'm there if I were to visit her?"

"I don't know, she made peace with losing you two, she just can't function the same. But if you really want to I'll take you Kat."

"Sorry Greg, do you mind calling me Ammolite, Kat sounds so weird I didn't even remember that was my name until you called me by it." I started to draw a picture in the sand.

"Oh yea sure." He sounded a little uncomfortable. "I guess you've changed a lot, more than your hair." He rubbed the back if his neck again.

I stopped drawing in the sand, I ended up drawing a picture of the prison like city I was forced to live in. "A lot has happened since we were kids..." I felt a tear run down my cheek. And I jumped up and forced myself to come up with something to do. "So what is that place with all those cool flashing boxes with buttons and sticks sticking out?"

"Some things haven't changed about you." He gave me a weary smile. "It's an arcade, it's like how we had the Nintendo's except more advanced and more games." He smiled ad lead me go the building.
