Amethyst's pov

I hope she is sure about this. I watched her get into Greg's van.

"Wait up, " I yelled as I ran up to the van, "is it ok if I come? It might do me some good to see more places and interact with more humans."

I actually managed to come up with a decent reason to stay with Ammolite. They accepted and I sat in the back of Greg's van on his bed. Which I was surprised it's actually really comfortable. We were stuck listening to Greg's songs.

"So, what do you think of my songs?" Greg said and he looked like he needed her acceptance for them to be good.

"They're good, they are a little different than what you use to sing before I left." She looked over at him and smiled.

"Yea the people wanted more happy songs other than the reality of life," he laughed, "it didn't help much that I was lonely until I found Rose."

"I bet they would have loved your songs either way." Ammolite said.

"Wait, Greg you wrote songs that weren't about love or being a comet." I said to mess with him.

"Well really I kinda still do, but I never play them cause it's better to be happy then look at the pain everywhere else." He let out a nervous laugh.

"Really?" Ammolite asked out if surprise.

"Yea, I still have my song books, they should be back there somewhere. I couldn't put them in the storage. There are some things that mean to much."

I looked around and I saw a couple note books under a pizza box. I opened one of them and saw song lyrics.

~ song lyrics ~

You know it's a shame,
Some of us just aren't treated the same.
We are judged for thing we can't control.
But people only found out because we decided to be bold.
There are things we try to hide
Like our feeling that we kept inside.

We try to run away
But the pain decides to stay
It claws at are hearts and mind.
Sometimes running away makes everyone blind
They don't know how you really feel.

~ end of song lyrics ~

It looked like the rest of the words were erased, so I closed the notebook and handed it to Ammolite.

"Oh you found them that's awesome." She looked happy and she immediately started to read them. "I remember this one." She was about half way threw the notebook.

She started humming and taping her finger to keep the beat. I couldn't help but admire her, just her humming sounded like it was coming straight from an angel.

"Im not some knight in shining armor, I cant save you from the dragon any better than the next man. I can do anything of use to you. I wish I knew how to save you from those demons." She was singing Greg's song."I know how they always try to hurt you. I have tried to be brave and save you, but I'm not the knight that they think should save you. Cause no matter what I'm still not a night in shining armor, I can't save you from the dragon any better than any other man. I wish I could tell you that I will fight for you, but all it seems I can do is lose."

She stopped singing and just looked at the page. She had a tear roll down her face.

"I'm sorry I tried to run away all those years ago, if I hadn't I would have never been kidnapped by those..." She continued crying and her words became slurs to where you couldn't understand what she said.

"You should dry up your tears we're here." He handed her a tissue, he didn't seem to know how to handle the situation.

I was going to stay in the van but Greg didn't want to risk me eating anything if his. It's not like he would miss this empty pizza box, but I did as he said and followed him inside.

"Are you ok?" I asked Ammolite as we turned down am empty hallway.

Ammolite's pov

"This is her room," Greg said as he stopped at a door.

My heart felt as if it was going to beat right out of my chest. Right when I started to take a deep breath I felt someone grab my hand. I looked over and Amethyst smiled up at me and gave my hand a soft squeeze.

"Are you sure you want to see her, it's been 34 years she has changed a lot." Greg seemed to be trying to talk me out of it, but also seemed concerned.

"I would like to see her," I stood up straight and took a deep breath before he opened the door.

"Mrs. Ferguson..." Greg said as he entered the room.

"I told you to call me Jessica." An older voice said. The voice sounded kinda raspy with a hint of sorrow, but also sounded very calm.

"Ummm.... Yea, well I have someone that wants to see you." He said nervously before reaching out and grabbing my arm and carefully pulling me into the room.

I stood there unsure of what to do or to say. The older woman just sat there is shock. Greg softly nugged me toward her.

"Katherine?" She questioned as if she was looking at a ghost, "how... What have you done to your hair?"

She softly touched my hair, and I couldn't help but laugh a little at how she reacted. She pulled me in and was hugging me. I was surprised, because it seems like she was searching for validation that I was really there. Tears started to slide down my face as I hugged her back.

"I'm really here mom, I'm really here."

"This turned out better than I thought." Greg mumbled to himself.

We spent a few hours talking mostly about memories, I refused to tell her about the hell I went through. She was better off not knowing that part, but we caught up on about what she has done for the past 34 years.

"Hey, umm... We probably should head back, I was supposed to do something with Steven." Greg said after a while of talking.

"Well you can't stay away from your son too long." My mom said as she hugged me again. "Come back soon Katherine." her voice sounded happier than when I first heard it since being back. Like some part of her was brought back to life.

"I won't be gone long mom." I said before I kissed her cheek and she kissed mine.

"Katherine, no more doing crazy stuff to you hair," she laughed as she ran her hand threw my hair, "I will be here next time you come to visit, and you should tell me something about your purple friend here. She must mean something to have come with you."

"Oh, uh this is Amethyst, she is..." I looked over at her and she seemed confused, "she is a really close friend I've made since I've been back."

"Well... She better treat you right, cause I may be old but I can still use a shot gun," She laughed before putting her hand in her lap, "I can see she means a lot to you, I like seeing you happy, and if she makes you happy then I'll be happy too."

"I love you mom." I immediately hugged her.

"I love you too, Katherine." She pulled me off and wiped a tear off of my cheek. "You always worked to make people happy, but you never included yourself, but it's about time you do. You deserve it." She said that like she knew everything even the pain I had been through.
