The Detective And The Thief (On Hiatus)

Chapter 4

Ginzo Nakamori was sitting at his desk, with papers scattered everywhere. He was hoping a KID heist would happen soon so one he could end his boredom, and two catch the wretched thief. To his luck, a policeman came rushing in with a note in hand. The note said:

The time has come

For the love to be passed

In the present which lasts

~Kaito KID (KID doodle)

Shinichi was shifting through the mail that she left piling up the time she was gone. It mainly included fan mail for her dad and the rest was advertisements except one which was addressed to her. When she opened it she saw it was an invitation to a party sent by some rich dude. The invitation said:

Dear Kudo Shinichi

I would greatly appreciate it if you would attend my son's birthday. He is one of your biggest fans and would be overjoyed if you were able to attend. Seeing as you have been away for a while I won't be expecting you but if you could that would be amazing. I hope to hear a reply from you

On the reverse of the invitation, it just had the time, place, contact info and dress code. Shinichi didn't want to go but decided to keep the invitation just in case she changed her mind or it would relate to a case, seeing as the last one did.

About an hour later Shinichi left so she could go clear things up with Ran. Heiji decided he would join her and meet Kazuha. While walking to the Mouri detective agency they came across a case.

It ended up to be connected to a massive fraudster, so Shinichi and Heiji had to go to Division 2 of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department and see Inspector Nakamori Ginzo. Heiji asked if Shinichi could go alone and he go over and see Kazuha and Ran to clear things up. Shinichi was glad for that because she wasn't exactly ready to see Ran just yet.

When she got to the Division she noticed everyone was crowded around Inspector Nakamori's office. After fighting through the crowd of policemen and finally getting to the door she realised what the commotion was about, KID's heist. To get the Inspectors attention Shinichi knocked on the door which he didn't respond to being too invested in the heist note. Seeing as the first attempt to get his attention didn't work she decided to just take the note from his hands and look at it.

"HEY, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?" Nakamori asked angrily finally noticing Shinichi.

"Solving the riddle that you couldn't solve in and hour," Shinichi said in a bored voice.

"WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?" Nakamori said getting really annoyed at Shinichi.

"Kudo Shinichi high school detective. I think we have worked on a KID heist together once."

"It was the clock tower one, it was the closest we've come to catching KID." A random member of the crowding task force said.

"Why has it taken you so long to work this out Inspector Nakamori?" Shinichi asked laughing to herself a little.

"It is a hard riddle I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't solve it," Nakamori said sounding cocky.

"But I already have."Shinichi had a grin on her face by now.

"W-what!?" Nakamori was really shocked by what Shinichi had said.

"It's quite simple. The first line says 'The time has come' indicating the jewel has links to time. The second line says 'For the love to be passed' showing that it is in some form of a family heirloom. The last line says 'In the present which lasts' meaning the jewel probably has a name that means love and maybe immortality. A jewel which fits all that is the Blue Rose which is embedded in a pocket watch which will be given to James Daniels this Saturday at his birthday party." Everyone was standing in shock at Shinichi's deduction. After standing like that for a minute or two everyone rushed off to get ready under Nakamori's command.

When Shinichi got home she decided to reply to the invitation and go to the party and help out with the KID heist. On the note, it said she could bring someone with her. She decided to call up Heiji to help out seeing as the more detectives there the better. When Heiji got the call from Shinichi he accepted right away.

To help with the heist Shinichi decided to get Agasa to make more smoke bombs for her but improve them from the ones KID uses. Agasa was excited with this project and had always wanted to look at some of KID's gadgets. Now all Shinichi had to do was think of a plan.
