The Detective And The Thief (On Hiatus)

Chapter 3

"Oh hey Ran," Shinichi said with an awkward smile.

"S-Shinichi WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN THIS WHOLE TIME AND WHY HAVE YOU HARDLY CALLED?" Ran shouted tears brimming in her eyes.

"I'm sorry Ran I can't tell you not yet anyway but as soon as I can I will" Shinichi looked down guilt clear on her face.

"Why do you always do this to me" A couple of tears had left Ran's eyes.

"I'm just trying to protect you if you knew the truth you could be put in danger if anyone knew they would be in danger," Shinichi said tears threatening to escape her eyes. Once she realised what she said she clasped her hand over her mouth and escaped through a secret passage. Everyone was left in shock and no one knew what to say.

Shinichi curled up into a ball crying. She felt so guilty. Shinichi ended up falling asleep and woke up about two hours later. When she left the passage back to the library she found Heiji asleep on the sofa. She grabbed a blanket from a cupboard and put it on him. She then started to read her Sherlock Holmes book but then fell asleep as well.

Shinichi woke up to find Heiji still asleep. She decided to make herself a black coffee and Heiji a tea. Once they were both made she went into the library to wake him up.

"Come on sleepy head it's time to get up" Shinichi started to shake Heiji which the only response she got was a groan.

"I made you some tea" Shinichi then held the tea in front of him. Heiji then shot up like a rocket and started to drink the tea.

"Thanks for the tea Kudo" Heiji put down the empty mug.

"No problem, but why are you still here?" Shinichi was now getting curious.

"Oh yeah about that the hotel I was meant to be staying at closed down so I ended up having to stay here while Kazuha went to Ran's also someone needed to wait for you to emerge," Heiji said with a jokey tone in his voice.

"Well you can stay in a guest bedroom we have plenty here" Shinichi started to take their mugs to the sink. When she returned she saw Heiji hanging from the ceiling and a man dressed head to toe in white looking amusedly at him.

"KID what are you doing here?" Shinichi said glaring daggers at him. If Kaito hadn't learnt how to master the poker face you would have seen the terror on his face.

"Well if you must know I am here to invite you to my next heist" if out of thin air a card appeared in KID's hand.

"No" Shinichi decided to keep it short and simple.

"Aww~ why are you being so mean? You wound me" KID said dramatically but Shinichi just ignored him and went to untie Heiji.

"Meitantei-chan?" KID tilted his head to the side pouting and waiting for an answer.

"Sorry, no can do I'm kinda sick and with my luck who knows when the medicine will lose effect" Shinichi had finally got Heiji down. He looked really pissed and like he wanted to kill KID

"You don't seem sick looks like I will have to take drastic measures then" KID threw down a sleeping gas bomb. It filled the room with pink smoke. When it began to clear he walked over to where Shinichi was only to be surprised when there was only a sleeping Heiji.

It turns out Shinichi had been prepared with a gas mask and was now running through the secret tunnels. When she emerged she was in a room she had never before seen. After looking around she realised that she was in KID's base. Before leaving though she took a couple of smoke bombs to see if Agasa could make some for her and also left a note. KID gave up looking after about an hour little did he know Shinichi was watching him from the camera room after she had returned.

When Kaito got home he went into his base to see a note sitting where his smoke bombs usually are. It said:

Sorry had to borrow these who know when they might come in handy

Once reading this Kaito was annoyed and also a little curious as to how she managed to get here. He also wondered if she knew who he was. He was going to get his revenge at the heist.
