REMEMBERthe times when everything was easy, when you didn't depend on a contract to control on where you end up living or working. Well, today wasn't one of those days.
Currently i'm on a plane on my way to Toronto. Last season didn't exactly end how we wanted it to end. Calgary ended up not making the playoffs due to my lack of participation in points near the end of the season. By the end of the season i was then placed on wavers and then got signed by the leafs, which is just the worst case scenario. Auston and I have not tried to make contact with each other and have decided to keep where we left off from the last time we saw each other.
I look out the window and watch as we finally land and i smile at the familiar airport. I then get up from my seat, get my carry on bag and make my way off the plane and make my way to the exit of the large Toronto airport.
"Hey Ivy!" I hear Steph say as I snap my head into their direction and walk my way over to them with a smile on my face.
"Hey." I say as we both hug tightly.
"I'm here to you know." Mitch says to me and i hug him to and do our unforgettable handshake.
"I missed ya kid." Mitch says messing with my hair.
"Not the hair." I say to him making him laugh.
"Love the short hair." Steph says making me smile.
"Hey guys we got timhortans, is your friend here yet?" A voice says from behind me. I then turn around to see the Matt Martin and William Nylander trailing right behind him on his phone.
"Yeah, Matt this is Ivy." Mitch tells him and i put out my hand and he shakes it.
"Nice to meet you!" I tell him and he returns the gesture with a smile.
"Ivy!" William says as he opens his arms for a hug.
"Hey Nylander." I tell him smiling as i embrace him in a hug.
"I like what you did to your hair." William tells me with a nod of approval.
"I KNOW RIGHT!" Steph yells as they both investigate my new hair.
"Stop looking at her like that, it's weird." Matt says making me laugh.
"And speaking of weird, where is he?" Mitch asks Matt and he shrugs.
"Where's who?" I ask him with a questioning look.
"Well, there's been a slight change with who you'll be staying with..." William says scratching the back of his neck.
"Who am I staying with?" I ask them now very worried for myself.
"Me." I hear from behind me.
At that moment I was kinda happy. I will be rooming with Auston Matthews, someone who i've had a relationship with already, at least i'm not rooming with a total stranger. But I also had another idea in mind. What if this is the universes way to say that Auston and I are done waiting and are finally ready for each other.
"Oh, that's not that bad." I was then cut off by a very pretty brunette coming up to Auston and placing a arm around his waist and he puts his arm around her shoulders. And in that moment, every though i had then shatters.
"Oh uh, Scarlett this is Ivy the new player, and Ivy this is Scarlett my girlfriend." Auston says as he smiles down at her.
"Hi, nice to meet you, i'm really excited to have you around!" Scarlett tells me sticking out her hand and I shake it.
"Nice to meet you too!" I tell her with a fake smile plastered all over my face.
"Well we better get you home, you must be tired." Scarlett says and I smile nodding my head.
"Okay, we'll see you guys tomorrow!" the others say as we all go our separate ways to our cars.
||AFTER BRINGING SCARLETT HOME||
Once Auston and I finally got home, he quickly helped me with my luggage and helped me put away a few things. Once I was all done I then thanked Auston and grabbed a gray over sized nike hoodie and a pair of white sport shorts and made my way to the washroom to change.

"You're still here?" I say as I leave the washroom and see Auston sitting on my bed.
"Yeah, can we talk?" Auston asks as he pats the bed beside him and i sit down beside him.
"What do you want to talk about?" I ask him as I fiddle with my thumbs.
"Remember that talk we had around last year about waiting for each other?" Auston asks me.
"Yeah, what about it?" I ask him.
"I guess I really am Mr. Impatient because I found someone new and didn't wait for you." Auston says and I shake my head.
"Auston, it's fine. I see how happy you are with Scarlett and I know that she's making you happier then I ever could." I say smiling up at him and he smiles down at me
"Thanks for understanding Ivy, if there's anything you need just ask. Now get some rest, we got practice tomorrow." Auston tells me smiling and he gets up leaving my room and shuts the door.
I then sigh and crawl under the covers of my bed. I then stare up at the ceiling and try to fall asleep, but find my mind drifting to the fact that Auston is happy without me. He was finally done waiting for me and the universe decided he needed someone new. I start to think about what would have happened if we ended up together.
||IVY'S DREAM||
Ivy and Auston become a great couple and are living a great long distance relationship, which was the best decision they both have ever made. The two of them ended up being the happiest they have ever been in their lives.
Ivy ended up being the top player in the NHL due to her happiness which carried her across many games and even to the NHL all star games and the playoffs. Auston ended up going to the all star game to and the couple ended up competing with each other. Everyone can see that the couple are truly happy and deserve to be together forever.
||REALITY||
I then open my eyes from my sleep and see that it's 2 A.M, and everything was just a dream. Auston and I aren't meant to be together, and might not ever be able to be together. He's happy now, and it's because I didn't say yes to something that could have turned out both of us being happy, but instead only one of us achieved that.
