Suddenly Family

Part 3

"Ow! Stay on your own side, Hagen!" Tom yelled
"It's hard to do that when we have to put this thing together! You dont want Berlin falling through the crib, do you?" Georg asked
"Nein. She would get hurt." Tom said as he imagined the crib suddenly collapsing and while Berlin was sleeping and the pieces landing on her tiny body. Bill's screams of horror and "OH MEINE GOTT! BERLIN'S DEAD!" would surely follow.
Meanwhile downstairs, Gustav was in another room whacking away at the drums while Bill was in the living room reading a story to Berlin as she sat in her swing and tried not to get distracted by Gustav's drumming.
When Gustav was finished, he came out of the room and asked Bill "Have they finished with the crib yet?"
"No why?" was Bill's reply
"Have you forgottten? David wanted to meet with us this evening to plan the new album." Gustav said
"Oh schiesse!" Bill exclaimed "What are we going to do about Berlin?"
"You mean as for a babysitter?" Gustav asked as he put his drumsticks behind his back
"Ja." Bill replied
"I don't know. I guess we'll have to take her with us." Gustav said
"But you know David would never allow it!" Bill said
"Don't worry, I'm sure David will eventually be open to the idea. We would never let our family be broken up by him." Gustav said
"That's good because the last thing Berlin would want is us out of her life." Bill said as he noticed Gustav's drumstick missing from one of his hands and then when Gustav turned, there was Berlin sucking on the missing drumstick.
"Okay you little drumstick bandit, I'll go find your soother before you choke." Gustav said as Berlin gave back the drumstick by spitting it out
"I guess we'll have to hide Tom and Georg's guitar picks." Bill said giggling
"She got to one once, Tom left his on the tray of Berlin's swing this morning while he was tying his shoe. He didn't find it until later when he was changing her diaper. I guess that's why Tom put Berlin in her footie pajamas." Gustav said
"You're right. this house needs to be babyproofed." Bill said as he picked up Berlin
who started to cry
"Oh right! the soother!" Gustav said then went upstairs
Bill meanwhile, cuddled Berlin and tried to calm her down
"What's wrong, cutie? Are you okay?" Bill asked then heard Berlin's little stomach growling
"Oh now I get it, you're upset because your tummy is empty. We'll fix that, Don't worry." Bill continued to coo then went to the kitchen to get Berlin a bottle
Later at Jost's office, the guys sat nervously (with the exeption of Georg who offered to hold Berlin while Bill got a break to review some important promo-related stuff for this new album; he distracted himself by playing with her)
Soon, Berlin began to cry loudly.
Before They even had fears of being found with a baby, Tom took out one of Berlin's favorite toys, the peas in a pod.
"Linnie, look what I have." Tom said as he unzipped the little green "pod" to reveal the first smiling "pea".
Berlin made a gurgling noise at this.
Then came the second and Berlin squealed in happiness.
Bill was laughing and took the little toy then gave it to Berlin who hugged it.
Then Jost opened the door and said "You guys are a little behind schedule."
"We had to pack some extra things for B-" Tom said before Bill shut him up by covering his mouth
"I...have a trip I have to go on this weekend. Something for Dsquared.And you know me always packing too much." Bill finished. He hated he had to lie to cover for Berlin being there. But they were afraid David wasn't going to let them keep her.
"Oh! I didn't know they asked you to be in another show." Jost said
Upon hearing this little white lie, Berlin cried out loud in the baby sling
"Ssssh...ssssh! It's alright, Berlin!" Georg tried to say as he held the little one's tiny hand then glared at Bill as if to say "Get your skinny ass over here, Kaulitz!"
"Oh nein! I said something wrong." Bill said as he put the laptop down and rushed over to comfort Berlin
Gustav tried making faces but that just scared Berlin.
Finally, Bill took Berlin out of the sling and began to sing to her to calm her fears.
Jost saw this and was shellshocked.
"Where did you get that baby?" He asked
"We found her on our doorstep." Tom said
"No parents came foward to claim her so we adopted her." Gustav said
"Who is 'we'?" Jost asked
All of the guys looked at each other.
"Oh meine Gott! You mean? But that's crazy! Four men can't adopt one child!"
"We had to. Tom and I went to Family services the morning after we found her and got papers for all of us to sign. then we sent them in that afternoon when we went shopping for her crib." Bill said
"I hope you didn't confuse the people." Jost said
"They said Berlin was an orphan. the parents are dead and she had no other relatives." Tom said
"I guess the woman they showed on the news the other night getting taken to the morgue after that bad car wreck was Berlin's mother." Georg said in a whisper
A wave of silence filled the atmosphere of the room until Berlin snuggled up to Bill and cooed happily.
Jost cleared his throat then said
"I was going to tell you the promo tour kicks off in London this weekend but since you guys are fathers now, I guess it can wait a little longer."
then he looked at Berlin who fell asleep in Bill's arms and asked "What are you going to do about a babysitter?"
"We could ask Natalie." Tom said
Bill looked down sadly at Berlin, even though he knew Natalie, he just couldn't stand the thought of leaving Berlin with someone other than himself, Tom or the G's.
"Bill?" Jost asked
"Bill? Are you okay?" Gustav asked
"Bill? If you think leaving Berlin with someone else is a bad idea. We totally get it. She means a lot to us but we still have a job to do. So she has to be taken care of by someone." Tom said
"Okay. On one condition." Bill said
"What?" Jost asked
"She gets to come with us on the promo tour." Bill said
"Bill, I'm afraid there won't be anyone available to watch Berlin for the promo tour. I was talking about the actual tour." Jost said.
"Then I guess we'll have to let everyone know about her while this goes on." Bill said
Soon, Berlin made that face. the face that says "someone change me or else!"
Jost saw this and said "I hope you bring plenty of diapers. You're going to need them." before going back into his office
Bill furrowed an eyebrow in confusion.
"What did he mean by that?" he asked
"Lin needs to be changed, can't you smell it?" Tom said
"You do it!" Bill said as he held Berlin out for Tom
"Nein! I did it four times this morning. I'm afraid I'm going to find my guitar pick in there again!" Tom said as he hid behind Georg
"Fine, I'll do it then!" Bill replied as he picked up Berlin's diaper bag and walked to the nearest restroom.
"How did your guitar pick end up in Berlin's diaper?" Georg asked
"I don't remember." Tom replied
Gustav just snickered.
