Suddenly Family

Part 7

The next day at the first stop on Tokio Hotel's promo tour, the guys tried to wade through the crowd as safely as possible.
But, even after they made it through the chaotic crowd, the guys had to tend to Berlin as she began to cry.
"What's wrong, Linnie? You were so quiet this morning...why are you upset now?" Tom asked as he pushed Berlin's stroller back and forth and cooed at her
Berlin was still in tears despite Tom's effort to comfort her.
"Let me try." Georg said as he lifted Berlin out of her stroller and began to soothe her
But, it didn't last for long.
Soon after Georg got Berlin to stop crying, he put her back in her stroller and as he was about to do this, she started to cry again.
"Berlin's really upset about something today." Georg said
"No schiesse! Of course she's upset...The big mystery is what is she upset about?" Gustav said
Bill put a well manicured hand to his face in utter frustration and said "Don't you idiots get it? Berlin is upset because SOMEONE forgot to feed her before we left!"
"Hey! It wasn't my turn. I changed her on the way over here." Gustav said
"Yeah, well you three were passed out on the plane from a Berlin-induced sleep deprivation, I had to take care of Linnie all by myself!" Tom said
"And I gave her a bath this morning!" Bill said
Soon, all eyes fell on Georg.
"Was?" asked the bassist
"You were supposed to feed Berlin this morning!" Gustav said
"Ja! Where were you anyway?" Bill asked
"I was out getting coffee." Georg said
"And Gustav didn't bother to look after her?" Tom asked
"Of course I offered to look after her while Georg went out for coffee but I didn't feed Berlin because Georg told me he already fed her." Gustav said
"How long ago was that?" Tom asked as he tried to comfort Berlin
"I don't know...6 am?" Georg replied
Bill shook his head and lifted Berlin from her stroller then said "I'll feed her."
"But Bill, we're just about to go on." Tom said
"That's okay. I'll just feed her during the interview." Bill replied
To the guys' surprise (or at least contrary to what they had been told), there was a crowd of fans at this radio station.
"David didn't tell us this would happen." Tom said
"Don't get too upset, Tom. Let's just get this over with." Bill said
As the interview went on, Bill fed Berlin as she tried to reach for one of the microphones.
Much to the boys' confusion, the fans reacted quite well to Berlin.
In fact, they thought she was cute.
Soon, a question about Berlin came up...and it was one that the guys were not prepared for.
"So, where did this baby come from? Is she one of yours?" the radio show host asked
The guys looked at each other then sighed.
"She belongs to all of us." Bill said
"You see, we found Berlin on our doorstep one night and later found out that she had no family." Georg said
"So we did a crazy thing and adopted her." Tom said
"All of you?" the radio show host asked
The guys looked at each other and nodded.
"How does that work?" the radio show host asked
"Well, we do our part in taking care of Berlin." Georg replied
The radio show host looked at them in confusion.
"We are all her fathers. So she gets a lot of attention from us." Tom said
"Will she go with you on tour?...what will you do about a babysitter?" the radio show host asked
"For now, we are taking care of her while on this promo tour . But, as for the tour itself, an assistant is going to be looking after her." Bill said as he put a pacifier in Berlin's mouth
Later as the guys gave an accoustic performance, Berlin laid in her stroller off to the side but, close enough for her fathers to keep an eye on her.
As Tom played his guitar mid-song, he looked over at Berlin and smiled as he saw her laying calmly in her stroller.
Gustav and Georg did the same.
They both laughed quietly to themselves at the relief from earlier events.
Then, Bill looked out of the corner of his eye to see Berlin cuddle up to her stuffed panda toy and fall asleep.
After the interview, the guys breathed a collective sigh of relief.
"That was a challenge." Gustav said
Tom and Bill nodded as Georg tucked Berlin in for her nap.
"But the bad news is that we have to do this again!" Tom said
Bill, Georg and Gustav responded with a collective "Ugh!"
Later at the hotel, Bill and Tom were playing with Berlin as Georg and Gustav talked about the earlier interview and the comment Tom had made about all of them being Berlin's fathers. And even though it was true, they were still confused as to what Berlin was going to call them when she started talking.
"So Tom, when you said all of us were Berlin's fathers, did you even think about what she would call us when she got older?" Georg asked
Tom looked over at the bassist and replied "No. But I think Bill has been referring to himself while cooing and talking to Linnie in a way."
"What way?" Gustav asked
Tom said nothing and just pointed at Bill as he let him coo at Berlin.
"Berlin?" Bill cooed as he hid his face while Berlin giggled and reached up and tried to grab his necklace "Where's Daddy Bill?"
Georg and Gustav looked at each other and shrugged.
"I guess that's one idea." Georg said
Soon, Bill looked at Tom as he picked Berlin up and cradled her in his arms.
Then, he asked "Hey Tomi?"
"Ja Bill?" Tom replied
"It just occurred to me that after this promo tour, Georg and Gustav are going back to Germany for a couple of months before the tour. What are we going to do?" Bill asked
Tom sighed.
"It's only for a couple of months. Not to mention, you and I have some more business issues to discuss with the record label before the tour.
So, maybe Berlin could spend some time with Georg and Gustav in Germany." he said
"What?!" Bill asked
"It's only until the tour. And think about it, we have a lot of work to finish." Tom said
Bill sighed "You're right." he said
"But where will she live after the tour is over?" Georg asked
"It would make more sense to let Berlin live with Bill and Tom." Gustav said
"WHAT?!" Tom and Georg asked
"Trust me. Berlin will have more security in America than in Germany." Gustav said
