Perching back down on the bed, I look at Louis, waiting for him to explain further what he is on about.
"Louis, what has happened since I have been away?" I ask him nervously.
"A lot has happened but I will start with when you first left.
'Nobody had noticed that you had left to begin with, we assumed that you were in your room like you had told your mother. It was only after about three hours of you leaving that we had realised you were gone. Apparently you had told Miss Crystal that you would only be gone for an hour? Well after a couple of hours she came and alerted us that you had gone.
'Shortly after, guards were sent out to look for you and the rest of the ball was cancelled. People were sent home immediately. With the amount of guards that had been sent out, everyone was sure you would be found by the end of the night but then the morning came and you were no where to be found.
'Your mother pretended that she was not worried but she did not have anyone fooled. The curfew was quickly put in place and guards were sent out to every city in every zone- which I'm sure you already know?" I nod my head at him, soaking in every word that he says.
"Letters were then being sent to the palace. Some of false sightings of you and some asking what rewards the people would get if they found you. Your mother then thought that this would be the best opportunity to do a live televised programme, informing the people of what she thought they needed to know.
'Protests began to break out on The Island because people were not happy about the curfew that was put in place. Eventually we got some news of Your whereabouts from a woman named Anita... which I assume you knew about?"
I remember that all too well, how she sold us out when we thought that she had given us a safe place to stay for a couple of days.
"I remember Louis... I also know what happened to her." I tell him.
"Well your mother was happy that we had a location for you, thinking that you would be home and safe within a couple of hours but then you slipped out of reach once again. She was furious and blamed that Anita woman for it, saying she should have got in touch sooner than what she had.'
'Your mother, being the type of the person the she was, decided a live execution was the best way to punish her. It certainly scared the nation and stopped all the letter of complaints although we knew the unrest had not completely dissolved.'
'By this point, we knew that you had help but only from Jasper. Flyers were sent out with both your faces on and identification checks were being put in place in certain areas, hotels especially. Somehow the two of you still managed to slip away.'
'There were a couple of times that the palace were alerted of a sighting of you, most of them saying you were on the Mainland. Nobody was expecting that, nobody was expecting you to actually get off The Island. After all, you told Crystal that you would only be gone for an hour." Louis sounds like he is scolding me during that last part, making me shift uncomfortably on the edge of the bed where I am sitting.
"Sorry about that Louis, carry on."
"When your mother heard that you were apparently off The Island, she locked herself away. She would refuse to eat any meal if it was not being served in her room. Meetings that she had previously arranged were cancelled which caused some commotion. Mayor Kazaks came banging on the door one morning, complaining about the attacks on The Cold Lands once again.
'Your mother refused to listen, insisting that it was not a priority but nothing seemed to be a priority in her eyes anymore. After a few more days, close to a week, your mother decided to do another live appearance. I do not know if you ever saw it?
