My eyes landed on the entrance; a shadow showing on the floor. A sudden anxiety has my stomach locked up tight, nothing getting in or out. My breath slowing down, and my whole body concentrating on nothing but my main senses. Right there at the door showed up a tall man, black tux firmly gripping his figure, and a woman next to him. Her arm wrapped around his, yet her eyes searching the room slowly.

She was a werewolf. But that didn't matter. What was she doing with a vampire? I felt my mom caress my arm, and the sudden touch snapped me out of that tension crawling through my body.

  "Lana,"

"Yea?" I mumbled quickly, still trying to figure out what was going on exactly. My eyes locked on the two new guests.

"You alright?" Before I could answer her question, I noticed a tall figure nearly blocking my view, so I instinctively looked up. Of course. Alexander.

A charming smile appeared on his lips. "May I steal your daughter for a dance?" I noticed the satisfaction on my mother's face, but I was concentrated on something else. My actions were faster than my mother's words as I placed my hand in his.

"Yes, great timing," I mumbled, already starting to walk and not even letting my mom finish. But this was what she wanted, right? Bonding. She got it.

As he lead me towards the crowd, I saw my brother Jack walking towards me, and I was greatly aware that he noticed our surrounding the same moment I did. My brothers and I got that from dad.

Werewolves have evolved different senses. Some had a stronger hearing, some a stronger smell. My mother had a great sight, while the rest of us could sense that danger faster than anyone.

As Jack walked pass me, he leaned closer, slightly gripping me by the arm. "Got the smell?"

"Yea, get dad out of here before he makes a scene. I can handle this." I whispered back as I continued walking with Xander. He nodded his head and did as told.

My father was older. His senses weren't as strong and as sharp as ours, so it would take him a few minutes till he figures it out himself.

I felt Alexander hand pulling me by the waist, his other hand taking mine, and our bodies started moving along the music. A slow, classical dance that we had to perform at least once the night of the family holiday. Today too.

Music filled the air without effort; the sound rushing in and around every person in the room. Some react to the notes, others continue in chatter, everyone effected in some way.

I on the other hand, had only one thing to do. Keep my eye on the vampire that walked in. He was walking through the crowd, his tall figure making it hard to lose him from my sight.

I couldn't believe my eyes when the two started dancing, and blending in like everyone else. I looked over Alexander's shoulder.

"Everything alright?" He whispered, leaning a bit closer.

I glanced at his sharp features. Dark brown eyes, slight dimples on his cheeks when he smiled, and a soothing voice that caught everyone's attention.

He really was handsome. But that didn't matter at that point. I had a lot more to deal with. I licked my lips quickly, and looked on the side again. I could lose the vampire in the crowd.

  "Yea, everything's fine."

He seemed like he was trying to get my attention when he pulled me a bit closer on my waist, and tried looking me in the eyes, but I leaned myself slightly against his chest in order to get a better view over his shoulder.
