Chapter XLI

  Lana's POV

   "Adam.." The coldness in my father's voice grew with the concern that was well expected. "Adam Roth?"

  "Yes."

  "Where.. Where on Earth did you learn that name?!"

  He had rose from his desk, completely in that state of blind worry, not even registering my words anymore.. It was an expected reaction after I explained to him.. Explained that it was Adam we were going to fight the war against. Not the royals.. No, it was them we had to unite with.

  I should've known that the name would be familiar to him.. I mean, I knew it would since he worked with the old king, meaning they had the same enemies.. But I never thought I would see such fear behind his eyes.. He seemed very much aware of the danger the simple mention of Adam meant.

  He sounded nearly lost in panic. I didn't 'learn' names though.. I knew of danger just as much as him. I knew what kind of a monster Adam was..

   "I am not a child anymore, dad.. I hear things, I see things, and I understand what they mean, as hard as it is for you to believe.." I made sure to stay calm as I pointed out, slowly getting to the point. "And alongside all of that, I became Adam's interest somehow.."

  "You?" Silence fell over for a few seconds. Anger was slowly replacing that panic, that concern.. "What the hell would he want from you?!"

  "He.. He was put down two years ago.. By Amelia and the Le Boursiers.." I started, but he was quick to cut me off..

  "I heard. But that still doesn't explain what that monster would want from my daughter."

  "Do you know why he was put down?" He answered nothing.. So he didn't know the full situation after all.. "He is in love with Amelia. The royals put him down because he wanted to use Amelia for his selfish obsessions.. He wanted to rule with Venedocia with her, but that promised more pain than it did power, of course knowing that Adam is a psychopath and that he was her first Master.."

  "For God's sake, Lana, do not use that word." He closed his eyes in disgust, walking towards the window.. The nervousness and frustration in his steps was clear. "How do you know all of this?"

  "They told me." I Intertwined my fingers together..

Nothing of what I said was a lie really.. Except that I wasn't kidnapped.. Still, our plan was the best to escape war.. My father would had wanted to protect me once he found out that Adam was after me and he had to do that with at least some backup.. Christian wanted to end Adam as well, protect me as well, so the best choice was to unite..

I continued with my explaining. "Adam is a high-born.. I'm sure you know that more than I do.. That means that he has the venom in his veins.. Which makes him immortal."

I hesitated whether or not to mention Amelia, but if I wanted it to work, I had to make sure he knew his eldest daughter was involved as well.. He did care about her very much.

"Amelia and the Le Boursiers managed to put him down, but they couldn't kill him.. Quite some while had passed.. Amelia's spell has faded. And with that he had grown stronger over the years." I stopped, watching him furrow his brows some more and listen intently. "Even though Amelia has grown stronger as well, they won't rest until he's dead. They found a loophole.. A way to kill him."

"I'm very assured that they're protecting her for their own selfish reasons.. If that monster touches her or you-"

"If you don't let me finish, then he will." He had to listen carefully if we wanted to stop Adam. And he was already ready to do whatever it took to do so.. "I know about the necklace that a guy named Luke brought to you a while ago.. I met him too. He's an omega now, but he was part of the Hollow's pack.. Your trusted allies." I stopped, scanning his expression for a second. "Why did you take it?"
