Chapter 04
The day went on fairly normal from what Laura could tell; she still didn’t feel right with it. Like her whole body tensed waiting for something bad to happen, only nothing came.
She wasn’t sure if she should feel relieved or worse.
What’s more that girl, the one who yelled at her three years ago before the accident happened was still following her, it was downright stalking but there wasn’t anything Laura could really do about it. One of which she seemed to be following her in was gym, where that sensation of something wrong increased.
Laura knew what that meant, it meant that the problem would happen here in the gym, or was it the class itself? Why can’t my powers be more specific when something is supposed to happen? She thought while standing in line to do the high jump, her eyes glanced to the right of her and she saw the girl with the grudge glaring at her from the sidelines. And then theirs that…
“Something up Laura?” Kathy, who was standing behind her asked.
“Ah, nah it’s nothing.” Laura said before she felt like she was being watched by another pair of eyes she looked around saw a little girl with long curly red orange hair and a powder blue dress, only she was barefoot.
“Laura?” Kathy asked drawing her attention away from the door.
“There’s a kid, over there, a little girl she looks to be eight or nine year’s old.” she pointed to the door and Kathy looked only to frown.
“What are you talking about? I don’t see any kid.”
“What?” Laura looked back and saw the kid still there watching her.
“There’s no kid Laura.”
Laura looked back to her friend then back to the door with shock, the kid was there, clear as day, but Kathy couldn’t see her, did that mean on one else could too?
“Travis! You’re up!” the gym teacher called out making Laura jump.
“Yes-yes sir!” Laura called out and went to the possession to run for the high jump only to glance once more at the girl.
“Can you see me?” she mouthed.
Laura kept her mouth shut; she couldn’t answer even if she wanted too. She looked back to the long jump, took a deep breath and ran. Leaping into the air she twisted her body so she would fall backwards, her eyes looked towards the gyms ceiling, watching the lights as she fell over the pole and down towards the mat. As she did her body felt like it was going in slow motion, something that she had felt a number of times while growing up, falling from a great height or small it would always feel like someone had slowed down time.
Somehow in a strange way she always felt relaxed while falling like she was at peace, she never knew why, she just did. Her blue eyes continued to watch the ceiling until she saw something fall towards her. What is that? She thought with narrowed eyes as her back hit the mattress. Only to have time speed up and hit her squarely in the chest, she could feel a sharp pain before blood went everywhere.
“Laura Travis!”
She quickly sat up and saw the gym teacher glaring at her.
“What do you think you’re doing daydreaming on my time? You’re holding up the line move it!”
Laura looked down at herself completely confused, her blue eyes darting about, there was no blood and her body didn’t hurt ether. She was alive.
What just happened to me? She thought but was pulled back when her teacher started to yell again.
