Chapter 6

Cassidy's POV

"Nevin, get the doctors and nurses. Maybe they can do something to save her." Julie said, urgently.

"Ok." he said, getting up from the chair he was sitting in. "Doctor Mercier, please! We need you!"

Doctors and nurses quickly file into Bethany's room.

"I'm sorry, but your going to have to leave." one nurse said to us.

We all walked out in silence. "She can't be dead. She's to young!" Nevin said, his voice shaking.

"Nevin, it'll be ok." I said, attempting to comfort him.

"No Cassidy, no it won't be ok. Bethany's dead. I loved her. Nobody will ever understand!"

"Nevin. I know what your going through." I started. "I lost my parents four months ago! I know what it feels like to loose someone that's that close to you. Especially someone that you love." I said, trying to stay calm.

"Cassidy, I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't have snapped at you. It's just, I love her."

"Nevin, it's fine. I forgive you."

"Mr. Hoffman. Friends. We managed to revive her. She is currently resting. You can see her now if you want, but let her rest." Doctor Mercier said.

"Ok." Nevin said. Once Doctor Mercier was gone, he turned to us with a big smile on his face. "Did you guys hear that? Bethany's alive!"

"I know! But Nevin she's resting. Why don't we go get some lunch?" Julie suggested.

"No way! I'm never letting her slip out of my grasp ever again! Can you guys just bring me something?" he asked.

"Sure, were going to Subway. What do you want?" I asked.

"I'll have a steak and cheese on flatbread. Thanks." he said, walking into Bethany's room.

While we were walking down the hall towards the elevators, I sort of had a spaz attack and knocked both me and Julie to the ground. "Ouch! Cassidy what was that for?" Julie asked.

"Sorry I had a spaz attack!" I said, getting up.

"Oh, how do you spaz while walking? It seems impossible!"

"Very carefully young grasshopper, very carefully." I said, trying to hold back laughter.

"You know, I wonder about you somedays. But then I'm like, nahh never mind. It's just Cassidy." Julie said, laughing.

"Hey, hurtful!" I said, laughing along.

"Hey Nevin, here's you sub." Julie said, handing it to him.

"Thanks!" He said, taking the sub gratefully.

"Hey, I have to take this." I said, fishing my phone out of my pocket and walking out of the room. "Hello?"

"Hey! Wanna go see a movie tonight?" Hunter asked.

"H, I would love to, but I'm with Bethany tonight. We almost lost her twice tonight."

"What? Are you serious?"

"I'm serious. You know, she would love it if you came up. A nice surprise for when she wakes up."

"That's a great idea! I'm on my way up! What room is she in?"

"421. I'll see you soon. Bye H!"
