What Am I Going To Do?

Stevie was pacing around the kitchen having written the letter to Carol, and deciding whether or not to put it in today's mail. Would she get a response? Would she read it? Everyone had told her it was silly but for her own mind, she needed to think of all the positives that came out of a horrible situation. Christmas had passed, it was a new year and she wanted to start it off right. Lindsey and the other band members were arguing with the label on her behalf. The album wasn't doing well and they had cancelled or at least postponed the tour and Warner was once again upset. They sink a lot of money into artists and their view is that it's all for nothing, right now. Lindsey came through the front door, slamming it and cursing.

"Ugh...fuck them, Stephanie!" He said, coming over to kiss her forehead. "You don't know how happy I am to be home"

"What happened this time?" She asked

"Before I get all worked up again, just let me look at you a minute."

"Okay"

"You're stunningly beautiful, Steph, how are you feeling?"

"Thank you. Tired, very tired. Your son is a daredevil since he's learned how to walk. Keeping up with him and being big and pregnant isn't easy"

"Would you like help for the last little bit? We can hire someone"

"No, I will manage. Women do it all the time. I'm not so special"

"You are very special, but I understand what you mean"

"So tell me what happened- calmly" she emphasizes.

"They want us to pick up in Canada. We need to promote the record but I'm not willing to bend"

"When? When would we have to be there?"

"April 30th"

"That's my due date, no way!" Stevie said, waving it off.

"We keep telling them you're not available, you couldn't possibly do that but they keep pushing"

"Did you tell them I'm pregnant?"

"Well, um...no"

"Linds!" She exclaimed with a laugh.

"I didn't know we were telling the world!"

"Lindsey, look at me. Like no one could figure out something's going on. Tell them. I won't be upset. Don't you think that would convince them we need to wait at least a little longer before we go all over the world?"

"I guess."

"Didn't Christine or the boys say anything?"

"No, they followed my lead"

"Oh brother!" She says, rolling her eyes. "Take me there. If you're not going to say anything, I will. In fact, I probably won't have to say a thing."

"And Leo?"

"With me, as always"

"This is going to be a train wreck" Lindsey sighed.

"If so, they will see why we can't go. You really just told them I'm 'unavailable'? Jesus, Lindsey, how very rock star of you"

"Hey, I was just trying to help" he says and she smiles.

"I love you, thank you for fighting for me"

"I love you, I will always fight for you" he kisses her tenderly on the lips and his hands begin to wander. She pulls them back up to her waist and gives him a crooked smirk.

"What am I going to do with you, Buckingham?"

"Anything you want, Buckingham"

"Our anniversary is coming up. Three years, can you believe it?"

"People said we wouldn't last three weeks!" He joked.

"Yes they did but I think we are doing pretty good, don't you think?"

"Very good" he agrees. "Let me take you upstairs."

"I'm going to be making lunch. This evening, I promise."

He pouts but smiles, changing the subject. "Where's our boy?"

"Napping. He wore himself out running around and playing."

"Sounds like he had fun"

"He did."

"Maybe I should make lunch so you can rest. We need to come up with something to do for Leo's birthday."

"We do. How about we make lunch together, and we can talk."

"Kill two birds with one stone" Lindsey says.

"Oh I hate that saying! So violent!"

"Sorry. Um...cut two carrots with one knife"

She giggles. "That's better"

"You're adorable. How did I get so lucky?" She shrugs, kissing him again. "Stop it or I'm throwing you over my shoulder"

"I doubt that would be possible right now with your giant daughter taking up residence in my guts"

"She's not so giant"

"She's huge. I know it. My body knows it. Ask my hips."

"I would love to talk to those hips of yours" Lindsey purs

"Oh stop it!" She says, swatting at him playfully. "What do you want for lunch?" Lindsey points at Stevie and she shakes her head. "If you say me, Buck, so help me God I'll..."

"You'll what? God, you're sexy when you're all feisty"

"I can't talk to you right now" Stevie says, going to the kitchen to make quick sandwiches. She has some left overs from dinner in the fridge that she slices up and lays on bread and Lindsey watches her. "You amaze me, you know?"

"No, I don't"

"Every time I look at you...man, Stevie..." Lindsey says and Stevie turns around.

She goes to him and lifts his face so she can look at him. He has tears in his eyes and she strokes his face, wiping them away. "What's going on?"

"I think it's just hitting me that I could have lost you. You wouldn't be here, doing this. You almost died and I wouldn't be able to interact with you. Like how I came in here and pissed you off or flirted with you, and pissed you off some more." Stevie smiled a little but her eyes were sad and concerned for him "I wouldn't be able to touch you..."

"Shhh...I'm right in front of you and I'm not going anywhere."

"I'm so happy you're here" he whispers and she holds him, letting him cry for the first time in months. He had been trying to be strong just for her and Stevie knew that wasn't healthy. What could she do? She wanted him to feel safe and he could come to her but he worried about stressing her out when her health had been so fragile.

"Alright, so what do you want on here? Mustard?" She asked, and he smiled.

"Always about food with you lately" he says, rubbing her belly that had grown so much in such a little amount of time. Maybe their little girl was going to be big, he thought.

"And whose fault is that?"

"Not it" he says, touching his nose with his index finger.

"You goofball." She says, raising up on tip toes to give him a lingering kiss. "I know I scared you but I promise I will always be with you, that is, if you'll have me"

"Of course I will. You are my world, Stephanie. I'm never letting you go again. Not now, not ever"
