Chapter 1.4

In the evening I sat in the corner and ate. No one wanted to sit next to me. I finished my food and walked out before anyone could talk to me. Some looked at me. I walked to my room and got straight to bed. On my pillow was a torn notebook. I opened it up and started reading it. Dear diary. I don't know why, but i'm having feelings for Eren. I think he is with that Mikasa girl, so i'm not going for it. Linda. I looked at the beginning. I've escaped the titans. They're huge, horrible. My whole village is gone. My mother, my sister. Everyone. My mom told me to get to the walls, that i'd be safe there. I'm right outside, not capable of going further. Linda. Tears ran down my cheeks. I closed the book and put it under my pillow before going to bed. More tears rolled down my cheeks. I stared into the wall and curled up under the covers. My bunkmates got in and looked at me. I dried my tears and silently went to bed.

The next few weeks I trained with the rest. One day however, that changed. I woke up one morning, ready to go to training when suddenly I realized something. As I picked up the harness to train with steadying myself, I had no idea how to put it on. One of the guards looked at me. I tried to see what the others did, and did the same. "Sukina, you're first." He said. I walked over and got the lines fastened. They lifted me up, and I immediately lost balance and hung upside down. Everyone looked at me. I tried to get back up, but I had no idea how. "Put her down, gently." The guard said. I put my hands on the ground as they slowly lowered me down. I was released and walked back to the others. Several others tried, and succeeded. The general came over to me.

The whole day they tried to see what I could do. I could barely hold a sword. At the end of the day I just sat outside, staring at the stars. "Here, I assume you're hungry." I looked up. Mikasa smiled at me and sat down next to me. "Thank you." I said and accepted it. "Well now that I can't fight they're gonna send me away. I'll become some prostitute somewhere." I looked at my fingers. "Why would you become a prostitute?" She asked. "Annie, a girl who looked like me, got sendt to the outside a few weeks ago. I just heard that she's the prostitute of a guard at the castle." I said and started eating. "I'm sure the ability to fight will come back soon." She said reassuring. Someone sat down in front of me, and I felt my heart beating hard and fast. Eren. "W-Why are you sitting out here?" I asked, trying not to sound so nervous. Eren looked at me. "We thought you might wanted some company." He said and ate. I nodded slowly.
