6. Liar, Liar, Pants On Fire

Disclaimer, I do not own Barry Allen or any other characters from the tv show The Flash, which this is based off of. I only own Mara and any others that may be made later on. 

I wake up with a massive head ache and a pillow on my face. I groan and reach up to move the pillow, but feel a resistance. I feel around the pillow, confused when I touch a hand. I start mentally freaking out, 'oh my god I've been kidnapped, someone is trying to suffocate me!'

As soon as these thoughts go through my mind, I scream, roughly rip the hand off the pillow, throwing the person off me, and jump into a standing position ready to fight. A scream soon matches mine but much more girly.

 'Iris. I swear to god if its-'  my brain is quickly cut off. "Mara what the hell!" Iris screeches. "Don't, Mara what the hell, me! You were trying to suffocate me! I thought I was freaking kidnapped!"  The angry expression fades off of her face and realization hits. 

"Oh, that."

" Yeah, that."

"hey I had good intentions! you were embarrassing yourself in front of Barry! I tried to stop you before it got worse, so I muffled you with a pillow...I must've just gotten tired too and fallen asleep that way.." Iris gives me a sheepish smile although that's not what I was focusing on. 

"Wait..What exactly did I um.. Say to Barry?" Iris gives me a look. "Oh god, Oh god was I drunk? please don't tell me I was drunk." I look at her with wide eyes and she giggles and nods. "Then you know what, I don't want to know. I'm taking some Advil, getting ready and going to work where Barry, you and alcohol aren't." 

"Wait! I could use your help because I'm still mad at Barry for ditching me last night, and since you have an effect on him, I want you to help me get him to tell us what's going on with him." I froze, thankfully facing away from her. I ignored the part about having 'an effect' and focused on the important matter at hand, Not only did I know what was going on with Barry, but I kind of knew why he ditched her. Although, it did kind of work out for me because I got to hangout with Iris. 

Barry never showed because apparently him and Joe got into a big fight about him being the flash, at least that's what Cisco texted me. Iris was pissed though, and obviously she couldn't know what was really going on with him..That must've been what her and Barry were talking about last night before I passed out.

"Um, what do you mean by 'effect'?" I was hoping that changing the subject would postpone her curiosity. She rolled her eyes, "You'll figure it out eventually, I'm going to get dressed, are you coming to CCPD with me or not?" I nodded my head vigorously. If I can't stop her from interrogating him, I might as well try to help Barry from cracking. If I'm right about his thing for her, I'm guessing it wouldn't be long before he can't stop himself from spilling. 

(This part is a little different, timing wise, from the T.V. Show)

Me and Iris got to the top of the stairs just as Joe was walking out of Barry's office. After Iris greeted an equally pissed Joe, I told Iris I was right behind her, just needed a minute. I lightly grabbed Joes arm, stopping him, "Hey." 

 "Hi Mara.. look I would love to chat but I've got to go-" 

"Not until we talk, it's important, Joe." I look at him sternly my tone flat, not light like it usually is. He sighs and begins to walk over a bit so the people passing by were out of earshot. He crosses his arms over his chest, "Alright, what is it?" I look him right in the eye, eye contact steady and unwavering, "Why haven't told me anything?" He looks confused so I elaborate, "My mom Joe, why haven't you told me anything about my mom?" He clears his throat shifting a bit, "There's nothing to tell, I checked and there wasn't anything to worry about for the moment so I didn't feel the need to say anything."
