The Beacon of Light ~ Barry Allen

2. Welcome Back

Disclaimer, I do not own Barry Allen or any other characters from the tv show The Flash, which this is based off of. I only own Mara and any others that may be made later on.

I'm woken up by the sound of wheels squeaking, signaling that the train stopped. I gather my stuff and as I step off, I take a deep breath. "Home sweet home," a genuine smile covers my face.

I walk up to a oh so familiar coffee shop with a large grin creeping it's way onto my face as I see her. My partner in crime, my sister..from another mister, ladies and gentlemen, Irisss West! Okay way too dramatic but you get the point. Her and Caitlin are my besties. I contemplate if I was going to scare her or not or if I want to embarrass her. I think by now you know the answer to that question.

I open the double doors with as much force as I could muster then scream out to her in a sing-song voice "Guess who's back, back again! Mara's back, tell a friend!" I say pointing to her. I laugh as I notice I had accomplished both my goals. Not only did she look terrified but she also looked as if she were going to die of embarrassment, Yay me!

As soon as she really noticed that it was me she ran up and tackled me in a hug. I chucked at the force she threw onto me, almost causing me to loose my footing, but I stayed up holding onto her with just as much strength.

She pull back a bit still holding onto me with the largest grin, mine matching hers. "I missed you so much Mars," She says. I giggled and pulled back a bit to look at her, "If this is the welcome I get, I should leave more often.."

We sat down at a table and she caught me up on everything. Although hearing about her obvious crush on detective pretty boy was oh so interesting, there as only one boy on my mind right now and I think she could tell. "You want to hear about your boyfriend don't you" she said with a sigh but at the same time I could tell she was trying to hold back a grin.

Ever since we were kids, Iris has had this theory that Barry and I have massive crushes on each other. I lightly hit her arm "Ow what was that for I'm just speaking the truth" she said raising her hands in the air a bit.I roll my eyes holding back a smile of my own. I make a buzzer noise "Wrong, but that's besides the point, how is he? really how is he?" Iris noticed my serious tone and sighed, "You're S.T.A.R labs buddies still have him in that lab that you used to work at-or still work at. They still think they can take better care of him there because of their equipment or whatever.I don't know, I know they're you're friends and all but it sketched me out when we first moved him there and still does. What are they going to do better than doctors? By the way, what's going on with that anyway, do you still work there? "

I raise my eyebrows a bit taking in this new information. My eyes also widening at the second question, crap " Shoot shoot shoot! About that, I was actually supposed to go over there as soon as I got back but I forgot, raincheck on our catch up?" Iris rolls her eyes " Yeah sure I should be getting back to work anyway see you later." I get up and start towards the door "oh and tell your boyfriend I said hi!" she calls after me.
