"You need to get a job at a shoe store or something. I'm tired of paying full price for my shoes. This is becoming ghetto." I complained to Kayla handing her the drink that she had just paid for.

"You need to hurry up and get off of work so I can go get Lucas from the shop. I like my job at Target, they pay me a nice amount of money." she said sipping her drink.

"I drove my car here. You can go and get him."

"Well he's going to drop me off at my moms house since I have to go and visit her. So that's why I wanted you to go." she said stepping to the side so that I could serve the customer.

I could tell something was bothering her and I couldn't pinpoint it. I knew my friends like the back of my hands and it bothered me that I didn't know what was going on with her.

Every time it was time for her to go over her moms house she wanted me to go with her and some days I couldn't and she would always be on the phone with me until she fell asleep.

"Well you'll have to wait. He'll be okay sitting at the shop for a little while longer." I shrugged and she laughed.

"You already know his mad ass about to be mad. He never gon' let me use the car again."

"Just talk his ear off. It works every time for real." I laughed and she laughed even harder.

Walking into the barber shop behind Kayla, I ignored the cat calls from the men that tried to hit on me. It wasn't working it just made me feel all weird inside.

"You legal na ain't ya Dream?" some dude said from behind me and I ignored him sitting in Dillyn's chair.

"Yeah she legal. Fresh outta high school. She ain't 21, but she grown in my book." another dude said laughing while snapping hands with another dude.

"Keep that same energy when Lucas and Dillyn in here. Weird ass niggas." Kayla said mugging them all.

"She just mad because nobody wants her ugly ass." dude mugged her.

"And you just mad because nobody wants you!" I snapped back. "Praying on young girls knowing when they graduate and stuff. Out here looking like R. Kelly."

"Who bothering y'all?" Lucas asked coming out his office with Dillyn following.

"These bum ass niggas. Mad because don't nobody want them. Slick at the mouth and everything. It was him and him." Kayla pointed out and Lucas pointed at them and to the door in which they ran out almost immediately.

They knew that Lucas didn't play when it came down to Kayla so I don't even know opened their mouths to say something that was so stupid.

And I'm pretty sure that Dillyn was going to see him on his way out and they would be apologizing within the next few days.

"I told you to be here at 3, it's fucking 4." Lucas grumbled. "Give me the keys."

"Damn I was waiting on Dream. Don't catch that stank ass attitude with me." she said dropping the keys in his hand before walking out the shop.

I started to follow behind her only to be stopped when Lucas grabbed my arm pulling me back to him gently. "When I say I want her here at a certain time, I mean it."

"She's grown. I have no control over the things that she decides she wants to do." I shrugged slightly.

"I want you over at the house tonight." he said in my ear and I smiled small.

"I'll see what I can do. I think Kevin wants to see me tonight also." I said and he made a face.

"Who is Kevin?"

"Kevin, my friend." I smiled.

"Tell Kevin, that Lucas said you can't go because you're not his friend and you have to come over Lucas house. Let him know that Lucas also knows how to fight and will knock him the fuck out." he said smiling a little and I shook my head.

"I'll think about it. I don't ditch on my friends." I said before walking out the shop letting Kayla into the car so that we could go to her mothers house.

Kayla
"I'm here mom." I said walking into the house with Dream behind me.

"I'm in the kitchen!" she called back and I made my way into the kitchen coming up behind her, I hugged her and she hugged back. "How's it been? I haven't seen you in a while."

"I've been at home and work mostly. I'll start coming back over here more. I definitely missed my past few weeks." I said sitting at the island.

When my dad died, my mom and Lucas came up with shared custody with me. Her having me 2 weeks and he had me 2 weeks too. It was easy for me this way. Being with my brother and my mother. And I was also allowed to change the weeks up if I felt like it.

"I know. Why are you so tired?" She asked looking at me.

"I look tired but I'm not." I said reassuring her. I had recently gotten bags under my eyes and it made me seem like I was tried all the time.

I knew why it was happening. I was extremely tired and getting fat. I told her it was stress but it wasn't. It was her grand baby that nobody knew about making me this way.

I told her I was stress eating due to me about to go off to college and she believed me and I was grateful for that.

"You probably just need a break. I mean this is summer before college mija. Don't over work yourself too much." she stressed.

"I won't ma, I promise. Is Tito here?" I asked causing her to roll her eyes.

"No. He finally left and I'm glad. He can be so demanding at time. I'm just tired of it. Anyways you should stay for dinner I'm making that taco nacho stuff you have me addicted to."

"I put you guys on to that good stuff." Dream said finally coming into the kitchen making my mom gasp.

"Mija! I've missed you. I should get your tail too for not coming to visit me. I see Miracle more than I see you!" she said hugging Dream.

"I know I know. You'll tear me a new one and I'll be okay with it. I've just been preparing to leave and been working and things as well." Dream explained.

"You're gonna be fat like fat ass over there. You stress eating too?" she laughed before poking Dream stomach.

Dream had gained weight in the right places over the past months and it was looking really good on her. I couldn't complain.

"No. She been hanging with Lucas." I said and my mom gasped.

"Mija! Tell me more!"
