Prompt: Out of the corner of her eye, she saw two figures crossing the bridge, but when she looked up they were nowhere to be seen.
That had been happening a lot recently. She'd see something, look up and it'd be gone. It was freaking her out just a little bit. Just– just a teeny, tiny bit.
Okay, maybe a lot.
"Still seeing glimpses of stuff?" she nodded, glancing around nervously and stuffing her phone in her pocket. The ear bud was a real connection for a private conversation.
"Yeah, I saw a couple earlier, but they vanished when I went up." She huffed, and glanced at another shadow. "You'd think now that I've accepted seeing them they'd be around all the time."
"I'm around all the time." She glanced to the six-foot-tall teenager walking beside her and scowled.
"You don't count Kyle, you're ALWAYS here."
"She's got a point," her friend hummed. "You're probably the whole reason no one's coming around."
"Sammy and I agreed to split up protecting you and your brother," Kyle said sharply. "You're stuck with me either way."
"Well, you're no help to the ghosts I actually want to help." She muttered sourly.
"Keep your chin up women," her friend chirped on the other line. "Someone will come around eventually."
"Yeah, eventually." She sighed.
"Speaking of eventually, you have company." She looked up hopefully, the perked at the couple that stood nervously in front of her.
"I'll call you back Kayls," she quickly shut off the line and removed on ear bud. "Please ignore the ass," she said, glaring to Kyle. "He's mostly harmless."
"So, you can see us." The woman asked hopefully. She nodded, beaming when both the couples relaxed.
"I can hear you too. What can I help you with?" She asked. The male held out a letter that rippled and shimmered until she took it, and looked at it startled.
"This is for our son." He explained. "Our families have been fighting over our things for years, and... While he stopped caring, this will put an end to the fighting and give him the answers he's looking for." She looked it over curious, then beamed happily at them.
"I'll see what I can do, what's his name?" She asked, watching with soft eyes as the couple faded out.
"Brayden," The woman whispered. "You'll know my boy when you see him." The two faded out, and the girl sighed heavily before looking to Kyle.
"Brayden Doragonfā? What is that Japanese?" She asked frowning. Kyle shrugged but tapped the paper carefully.
"Maybe Kaylee knows him." He offered calmly. She perked, and stuffed the letter int her pocket.
"Maybe, let's go find out!"
