"I want to go home."

Greer's words rang through my ears the entire ride back to the hotel. I can't believe I wasn't in there to stop that girl from making her uncomfortable. I mean, that's my job. It's the whole reason I'm here.

The vile stench of the jail I was in had held my nose captive for the past 12 hours. My nerves were shot and all I could think of was how incredibly pissed Tony was going to be. The event from last night had already made he news. A huge bust in Orlando. The officers from last night told me I would have a meeting with a correctional officer sometime today, I didn't know when, and that lack of information was driving me nuts.

It was lunch hour and all I could do is stare at the slop that was on a grey, stained, tray in front of me. Other men and woman began to fill the seats around me, occuping the sound. One man tapped me on the shoulder, so I looked to my right and made dead eye-contact with him.

"Cigarette?" He held one towards me and nodded his head at it.

I highly contemplated the decision. The young son of an abusive father told me no. However, the 19 year old man in a jail lunch room told me to smoke a whole pack. I slowly took the tobacco from his hand and thanked him, as he lit a lighter for me.

"Ever smoked before?"

"Not a cigarette," I replied.

Back at the hotel Greer had locked herself in her room, and I felt so bad. I knew that the event wasn't directly my fault, but I still know how anxious she gets. Hell, I know how anxious she is.

I just laid on my hotel bed, squishing the perfectly clean comforter underneath me. The TV played the news station but I paid no attention to the weather forecast for tomorrow. I wasn't upset about the idea of a girl kissing me. My anxiety was due to the fact that I was horrified at how Ezra would react. I didn't have very many people in my life, and Ezra was just getting here. I was afraid what Kameron had done would ruin this for me. It would ruin the chance of us being friends again. Moreover, I was praying I wouldn't have to fight her at tomorrows fight. I was actually hoping I wouldn't have to run into her anymore during this entire trip, which I knew was highly unlikely. We had hotel rooms right next to each other for fuck's sake.

Atlanta jumped onto the bed and rested her head on me before the two of us drifted off, with the TV still on.

The next night I waited in my dressing room for them to tell me I was ready to fight. I sat in my chair already dressed in my black shorts and bra. I was wearing a silver silk robe over them and my hair was pulled into two buns on the top of my head. My gloves were resting in my lap as Atlanta rested on the floor next to me. Hudson, Jamie, and I swiped through our phones as the fight played on the TV that hung on the wall. In all honesty, I never watched the fight while I was waiting. I don't think any of us did. We just patiently waited for our turn to kick some ass.

I was pretty much over the Kameron event. My anxiety over the issue had passed and I wasn't too worried about Ezra dropping me, I hadn't seen her at all. I'm also sure that she would understand my point of view when I explain to her what happened.

A knock sounded from the door and was followed by a security guard opening it up, "Greer Steel, we're ready for you."

Hudson and I silently followed him down the hall and to the left, where we stood and waited at the giant double doors. My fight assistant, Spencer, was here and so was a good handful of my crew. The guard who lead us here started counting down with his fingers as we got into our places so we could walk. I put my gloves around my neck and put a solemn look on my face.

The doors swung open and all cameras panned in my direction.

"Ladies and Gentlemen... Greer Steel!"

I walked up the aisle to the ring as my ears filled with the infinite screams and shouts of Kickboxing fans. I don't think I'll ever get used to the noise honestly. We took our place a the ring as my crew began to get me prepared for the fight, everyone was rushing but to me it went by in slow motion.

"Remember to get a good look at your opponent," Spencer reminded me like Dave usually does. I nodded and slipped off my robe while recognising  my opponent as Leslie Hampton. I've already fought her a couple of times, and won. A few years ago when I first started fighting, I went up against Leslie and lost. But since then I've won two more fights against her. Even though I haven't competed against her in over a year, I was confident that I would win.

Easy.

"Alright this is it," Spencer shoved my mouth guard in my mouth as I slipped my gloves on, "Good luck."

I jumped into the ring and bounced back and forth from foot to foot. Both Leslie and I bumped gloves then backed up.

"Round one! Fight!"
