Chapter 34

Patrick's pov

We could finally see Brandie and me, Pete, and Ryan all raced into her room. Her foot was out of a cast but it was wrapped. She was laying there asleep hooked up to a heart monitor and IV. I rushed over and kissed her forehead and then stepped back so Pete and Ryan could greet her sleeping figure. Pete was a mess as were we all. We spent the last 5 hours not really knowing what was happening. And not to mention Ryan had a black eyes, split lip, and sprained wrist from Brandie's mom. And Ryan had dried blood all over his hands from trying to stop the bleeding when Brandie was shot.

I sat in a chair on her right and Pete sat in the chair on the left. Ryan sat on the edge of her bed. The heart monitor started beeping faster and louder. We looked at each other and Brandie's eyes opened. She looked like she was gasping. Like she couldn't breathe.

Ryan grabbed her shoulders gently and held her down saying, "Brandie deep breaths. You're okay. Calm down."

Brandie looked at him with wide eyes nodding. Pete was holding her hand as was I. After a few minutes she calmed down and we all hugged her as everyone else ran in. They couldn't come in at first. Only us 3 until she was awake.

Ashlee hugged her and whispered something in her ear. Brandie's eyes widened and I asked,

"What's wrong?"

Brandie instantly covered her arms. Pete and I looked at each other and Ryan. He looked like he saw a ghost.

Ashlee continued to hug Brandie and Ryan finally whispered, "Brandie. What's on your arms?"

Brandie looked down and Pete tilted her chin up so she had to look him in the eye saying,

"Brandie Candy show me your arms." Ashlee still had her arm around Brandie's shoulders.

Slowly she peeled back the covers and I saw old scars on her wrists. How did I not notice those before. Ryan buried his face in her shoulder and she did the same with him.

Pete bit his knuckle and tears came to his eyes. A tear dripped down my face and Brandie whispered,

"I'm sorry."
