Last night Luke told me he loved me.

Last night I cried myself to sleep.

Last night I wished I loved Luke.

-

This morning I woke up at Luke's house, in my joggers and white sweater. In my makeup and bun. In my borrowed bed in my borrowed room. This morning I realized nothing is my own. This town isn't mine. This house isn't mine. This room isn't mine. This bed isn't mine. This life doesn't feel like mine.

How did we end up here?

How did I end up with his job? How did I end up in this house?

Luke wasn't home and neither, obviously, was Sophia. I got up and put on leggings and a sweatshirt and gathered my things into my suitcase. Last night I talked to someone who convinced me to leave with him. I write a note for Luke and left the house.

I got into the Lexus and drove away. I drove to the airport. It was eleven in the morning.

I pulled up where I was told. I called the number I was given.

"Stay in your car," said the voice on the other end. "Get in the passenger seat. Leave the doors unlocked and the keys in the ignition." I did as I was told, unsure of the reason but trusting nonetheless. A moment after I'd followed those directions, three young men approached the car, all wearing black. The one I recognized got in the drivers' seat. A fire-haired boy got in behind me, and a curly haired one with dark eyes got in next to him. No one spoke as the car pulled out from its spot and left the airport parking lot.

"Dude, this ride is sick," said the curly-haired boy. "I know he's good but I didn't know he was this good." I looked back at him. I was skeptical, anxious, tired. He smiled back. His smile was wide and his lips were tight together. I raised and eyebrow at him and turned my attention to the driver.

"You said we were leaving?"

The red head put a hand on my shoulder and leaned forward. "Did he say that?"

I turned around enough to meet his eyes. "Yes, he did. And he never said anything about bringing extras with him. Where are we going?"

None of them said anything.

"Calum!" I snapped. He had no reply. "Why are they here?"

He smiled at me but still said nothing. I slapped his arm.

"Ouch!" He finally yelled. "Fine! Gosh, you didn't have to hit! We're going home. Well, to your home. Or Luke's home, I guess."

"What!?" I screamed at him. "No! I just left there! And for good reasons! Calum, you told me we were leaving. Remember last night? Did none of that mean anything to you? Calum, you told me you'd come get me. You said we'd leave."

"Yes I did say that. But in reality, it isn't what you need. I intend to give you what you need and right now you need Luke."

"No, I don't."

"Okay."

"Calum."

"Angela."

"Why."

"Because, dear. You love Luke."

"Nope."

"Think again. You need Luke. He's been there for you when no one else was. He's become your family. You're afraid of loving him. You're afraid if you love him, you'll lose him."

Dang. I think Calum was actually right.
