the word echoed throughout your mind, bouncing off the walls of your skull.
it repeated and repeated and repeated to the point where you couldn't take it anymore.
you broke.
you made it to your breaking point.
the word uttered by your father when he left you earlier that day, is what broke you.
your sobs, your heavy loud sobs filled the house.
you sat in the corner and cried to the point where no tears would fall.
you were still sobbing when you heard the door unlock to your house.
"y/n?" your best friend, ethan said.
you tried to cover up your sobs, but ended up choking, so you let them go.
ethan burst into the room, immediately engulfing you in a hug.
"y/n, what happened? talk to me."
"i-" was all you managed to get out your lips, until your sobs cut off your sentence.
"shh shh shh, please don't cry, y/n." ethan set his chin atop your head, rubbing circles with his fingers on your back.
"baby, please don't cry."

after a while, you finally stopped crying and only silent tears would fall.
"e-ethan?" you said.
no reply.
"ethan." you said, a bit louder this time.
he had fallen asleep with you still in his arms.
you managed to wake him up, after what felt like forever.
"i'm so sorry y/n, i ran all the way here and i'm super tired."
"ethan.."
"yeah?"
"am i really your baby?"
heat quickly rushed to ethan's face, and he looked away hoping you wouldn't notice.
"i, um, well-"
"ethan."
"yes?"
"i really like you."
more like love, but whatever. you think I'm your head.
"like in a-"
"yes you dork!"
ethan quickly puts up a smile before smashing his lips onto yours.
you take him to the couch, where you cuddle and watch netflix, after explaining what happened between your father.
ethan also agreed to let you stay at his place, since you no longer mattered to your father.
and for what reason he left?
you're still unsure about that.
he just came home, told you he hated you and that you're worthless and said "get the hell out of my life" and left without a word.
you cuddle up to ethan and put your face in the crook of his neck, and fall asleep listening to his heartbeat and breathing.
"i love you, y/n." was the last thing you hear, before falling asleep in ethan's arms.
as you're sleeping, ethan kisses you, he plays with your hair, and admires your features.
he's always had a crush on you, but he was too scared to admit it. he didn't want to ruin your guys friendship.
"i love you too, ethan." he heard you say under your breath, before falling asleep.
