Paige was packing all of her books for school. She had been living in New York for four months, had been sneaking out as Spider-Woman for one, and living with Peter and Aunt May for one. Stephanie had just left the week before and it was awkward when she would go out and her adoptive dad would be in the hallway. Paige knew after school she would be going to court with Aunt May and her adoptive dad. It was a custody battle between the two. They had sent her to the doctor the week before to check her DNA to see if she had any relatives. If not she would probably end up in an orphanage since Jeff was going out every night gambling. She grabbed her bag and decided to swing to school that morning.
She walked outside and turned into an alley to change her clothes. She pulled her mask, boots, and gloves on and then took off. She looked around to see any sign of any sort of trouble. Seeing none, she swung to school and landed on the roof. She changed into normal clothes and then jumped down at the back of the school. She went around front and walked to her locker. She turned around to head to class when she nearly bumped into Michelle, who had her nose buried in a book.
"Sorry, Michelle!" Paige apologized.
Michelle closed her book and turned around.
"Eh, it's no big deal. I was the one who wasn't paying attention," Michelle shrugged.
Michelle glanced at her watch.
"Well we need to get to class," Michelle stated as she started to walk off with Paige shortly behind.
Paige walked into first period. Algebra. Boring. Even if she was a fourteen year old she still found the work easy in high school.
------------
After school, Paige walked into the city and slipped into an alleyway. She quickly changed into her costume and put her backpack over her back. She connected a web to the side of the building and leapt up. She started swinging through the streets of New York for a while and then climbed on top of one of the taller buildings. She looked out over the city, and slightly smiled. She then heard footsteps. She paused and listened to how they move. They were kinda quick. Maybe it's Peter.
"Spider-Man?" she called out.
No response. She furrowed her brow.
"Spider-Man?" she tried again.
Spider sense! She turned around just in time to be punched off of the side of the building. Her vision was blurred for a second but blinked it away. She shot a web at an opposite building and started running from whatever it was that was chasing her. She turned her head wildly and then her spider sense started blaring like a train. Her webbing was cut. She tried to shoot a web again but a net wrapped its way around her. She struggled as she tried to save herself from falling to her death. She shot a web and hung on to a flagpole as she leaned against the wall of a building.
A figure slowly flew down and hovered in front of her. She squinted against the sun to try to make it out. Green. Looked like a gargoyle.
"Well....looky looky what we have here. Not the spider I was looking for. And who would you be?" he said in a menacing, crackling voice as he lifted her head up to meet hers.
Paige's eyes narrowed.
"None of your beeswax," she stated through gritted teeth.
She brought her knee up and kneed him in the stomach. He let out a grunt of pain.
"Feisty, are we?" he laughed.
He grabbed her foot and slammed her against the wall. He flew across the way and slammed her into the building hard, causing the wall to crumple. She felt blood start to stream down her forehead and seep through her mask.
"So, you must be that Spider-Woman they talk about. I'm not impressed. Spider-Man should be disappointed. If you're smart enough you'll get help. And tell Spider-Man, that Green Goblin is ready for a rematch," he laughed as he pushed her deeper into the rubble.
She could now feel all of her injuries. She guessed that she had a large cut on her side, as she could feel the blood seeping through her suit. Her head was bleeding an ungodly amount. Her wrist was probably sprained. She thought that was it, hopefully. She could feel her consciousness start to slip away. She saw a red and blue figure appear. Peter. She heard muffled sounds, she assumed he was trying to talk to her.
"Green Goblin......." was all she muttered before passing out.
---------------
Peter picked Paige up and started to swing home. He silently opened his window and laid her down on his bed. He grabbed the first aid kit from underneath his bed. He took her mask, gloves, and boots off to start inspecting her injuries. He gasped when he saw it was Paige. He put alcohol on a gauze and started to clean the cut on her forehead. He wrapped gauze around her forehead. It would be healed in a minute. He looked at her wrists and noticed one was sprained. He wrapped it up and moved on to her large bleeding cut on her side.
He cleaned it up with the gauze and then wrapped it up. He peeked out of his room to make sure Aunt May wasn't home. He picked her up gently and put her in her own bed. He ran back to his room and put his mask and gloves back on. He leapt out if his window and started swinging through the air. His eyes narrowed in determination. Goblin could hurt Peter all he wanted, but when it came to anyone else.......Peter wasn't about to let that slide.
