Farkle

Boyfriend. Of course she has a boyfriend. She's perfect. I shook his hand before turning and walking away.

"Farkle where are you going?" Maya asked while Riley stared at me with confusion. Before I could answer two people walked up to out little group.

"Hey guys." Zay said pulling Lucas into a hug.

"Greetings." I froze. Isadora Smackle stood before me, looking as beautiful as ever.

"I have big news I want to tell you guys." Zay stated. We all looked at him weirdly. Already?

He pulled the four of us aside Smackle following. For a moment we were back in high school. Just the six of us without another care in the world.

"What's going on Zay?" Riley was glancing behind him at something. I turned and saw her boyfriend standing with Maya's friend looking confused.

"I'm engaged." He announced. We all stared at him before someone squealed. Riley.

"Congrats Zay!" She cheered.

"To the mysterious girlfriend you wouldn't tell me about?" Lucas questioned with a smirk. Zay nodded with a goofy grin.

"Who's the not so lucky lady?" Maya asked winking at him.

"Me." We all turned to Smackle who held up her hand, showing off the ring. All four of us stood there in shock. Then I noticed Lucas and Riley pass something to Maya. I eyed them. Maya leaned over.

"Riley thought if Smackle would marry anyone besides you would be Lucas. Lucas said it would always be you. I bet on Zay." She explained. I looked around at all of them before backing away and running out the door. I slid down and leaned against the building hold my head in my hands. After a minute I felt a presence beside me.

"Hey." I was thankful it wasn't Riley who came to comfort me but Maya.

"Hi." I muttered.

"What's going on with you?" She asked looking at me.

"I don't want to talk about it." That was a lie. I wanted to tell her. I just couldn't find the words.

"Yes you do. Let me think." She paused for a second as I stared at her. "You came here thinking Riley would be waiting for you and after all this time you guys would finally be together. Then you met her gorgeous perfect boyfriend and realized you were too late." She explained. My eyes widened.

"I-"

"I'm not done. Then you found out that your ex girlfriend who you dated for, I wanna say 7 or 8 years, is engaged to one of your old friends. And while they are both happy in loving relationships you are all alone and feel like you've failed this whole life thing." She stopped for good this time leaving me in awe.

"How the hell did you get all that from I don't want to talk about it?"

"I've known you for a long time. I know you have been in love with Riley since the first grade. I know you only said you loved us both the same because I was hurting and you knew I needed love, even if I told you I didn't want it."

"When did you get to be so smart?" I asked pulling her into a hug.

"Shhhhh don't say that too loud. I have a reputation to uphold." She winked. "I know you don't want to go in there and face them but I have an idea. My friend in there is alone. She doesn't know anyone and could really some company. I think you might like her." I looked at her and shook my head.

"Are you really trying to set me up with your friend?"

"I like her. You might too. Just give her a chance." She smiled warmly. "Have I been wrong before?" She asked laughing. I rolled my eyes and stood up, helping Maya up suddenly feeling guilty about her sitting on the ground with me.

"Maya your dress! I'm so sorry." I sighed looking down.

"It's okay Sparkly. I have the power to brush the gravel off of my ass." She shoved me lightly. "Now lets go back in there with our heads held high." Maya winked before dragging me back inside. "Dani!"

At Maya's call a beautiful woman with light brown hair strolled over with a wide grin on her face.

"Lucas wants to talk to you."She winked at Maya. I wondered why that was such a big deal. He probably wanted to catch up. I put the pieces together when I saw Maya blushing and staring at her feet. My eyes widened as I smirked at her. She elbowed me hard before turning back to her friend.

"That's not the point. I called you over here because I wanted to formally introduce you to my friend Farkle Minkus." I smiled and offered her my hand.

"I'm Dani Rose. Nice to meet you." I couldn't deny she was attractive. But would I be able to have feelings for her with Riley and Smackle overtaking my thoughts. I made my decision and offered her my arm.

"Would you like to get a drink with me?"

"I would love to."
