"Show me more."

Fara laughed softly. "I would love to dear, but don't you have a tour to attend?" I had almost forgotten about that. How was I supposed to go on a tour of the White House when I just figured out I could control fire? "But... oh fine.... can I tell Lindsey about this?" I needed to talk to someone, who else would it be rather than my best friend? "You can tell whoever you desire. You best be going now, wouldn't want you to get in trouble with the President now would we?" I nodded in agreement and walked out of the restroom my head filled with millions of thoughts.

I can't believe this. Will the dravens attack me to get my power? What will Lindsey think? I continued to think numerous thoughts when I suddenly bumped into Lindsey.

"Ow!" Lindsey said as she dropped her bag filled with snacks. "Careful where your going Hales" I apologized and helped her gather her snacks back into her bag. "I'm really sorry Lindsey. It's just that something really crazy just happened and...I guess I was just too lost in thought" I said as I put the last bag of fruit snacks into her bag. She zipped her bag and accepted my apology. "Well what happened?" She asked and I was about to answer but I looked over and it looked as though Mrs. Clark would explode with impatience if we didn't get the tour started.

"I'll tell you after the tour" I gestured to the guide "she doesn't look too inclined on waiting much longer". Lindsey laughed and we started the tour.

I couldn't concentrate on the rooms and objects the guide was showing us. I couldn't stop thinking about what Fara told me. I can't believe I can control fire! I guess I've always felt a connection with it. When I was little and would accidentally touch the stove while it was on or when we set the hot tub to a higher temperature then we meant to, the heat would never hurt. I always thought that it was just in my head but now I know that it's much more.

Finally the tour was over and we were sent to a waiting room until my father got out of the meeting. "So..tell me what happened!" Lindsey said and tugged on my arm like a child begging for a toy at the store. I laughed and told her everything that happened. "That....is....so awesome that I can't even describe how awesome it is!" She said and flopped back on the couch that was in the waiting room. I laughed " I know right! But it's also kind of freaky. I mean, what if those "dravens" attack me?!" I said and flopped down beside her.

What if I was right? What if they do attack me? Nevermind, that's nonsense.

I heard a strange noise and looked down the hall. I saw Fara and got Lindsey and ran to her. "Can you teach me more?" I asked excitedly. "Of course my dear. You can start by trying to move the fire in the fireplace." She gestured to the red fireplace in the center of the back wall in the waiting room. I nodded hesitantly and pointed my hand towards the fire. Once again I blocked out all thoughts except for the fire and suddenly the fire swooped out of the fireplace. I heard Lindsey gasp as I made it twist into different shapes. First an apple, then a horse, then Lindsey just to make her even more amazed. I made Fire Lindsey dance around the waiting room until I heard someone coming and dropped my hand, the fire retreating back to its home.

"Ok girls I'm done with the meeting. I know you were looking forward to meeting the president but he got an unexpected call and he has to go to another meeting. But he promised that we could all have dinner next week so you can meet him then." my father said as he walked into the waiting room. Lindsey groaned and I squealed.

I can't believe we get to have dinner with the president. That's so cool! "Oh, that's ok. How did the meeting go?" I asked my dad with a smile. "Oh, it went very well sweetheart. We should get going. That tour must've been exhausting." Not as exhausting as convincing myself that this was all real.

We got back in the limo and drove back home. I told my dad that me and Lindsey were going to the park and then we ran to the small forest in my neighborhood.

When we got there Lindsey immediately asked me to show her some more of my powers. I didn't exactly know what I could do, so I just thought of what I wanted the fire to do and hoped that it would grant my wishes. First I made a ball of fire fly into the air and then explode like a firework. After hearing some of the residents of that street, I decided to do things that were less noisy. I then made a fire forcefield that really impressed Lindsey. "Omg! Well now you won't have to worry about "dravens" anymore." She said and laughed. I laughed with her but inside I was still super nervous.

After practicing for about an hour we headed back to my house. We quickly ate dinner then headed upstairs. "I can't believe this is happening. My best friend has fire powers and I get to be her brainy sidekick! Ok maybe not so brainy.... would a brainy person use the word 'brainy'?" She asked and I laughed in response. We talked for what seemed like hours then headed to bed.

I fell asleep to these words from a dark, evil voice,

"Your protector can only protect you for so long. I suggest you train. My army will be coming soon"
