Elemental - Hailys Flame

Fire burns, Wind blows

I woke up suddenly as I heard something slam downstairs. My father wouldn't be up this late, so who was it?

Lindsey went home soon after we were about to head to sleep because her sister lost a game and needed some support. That leaves me as the only one awake. Well at least that's what I thought before I heard another slam and then someone shushing the other.

I was starting to get nervous. We have top notch security at my house so it surely couldn't be robbers. Then who? Did it have something to do with the voice I heard last night? I though that was only a dream, but maybe it was real.

I slipped on a pair of flats that I found by my dresser and walked silently down the stairs, careful not to step on the creaky step close to the bottom. I summoned a ball of fire in my hand behind my back, then turned on the kitchen light and quickly jumped out from behind the corner.

Two girls. I saw two girls, about my age, fighting about something before they stopped and stared at me. I looked down and saw a pile of pans. So that was the cause of the commotion. "Who are you?!" I asked, the ball of fire still behind my back.

One of the girls giggled and then....disappeared? The other glared at where the one who had disappeared used to be and then looked back to me. "I'm so sorry! I'm Violet and she's Vanessa. We're the Callicine twins. Also, we don't pose any threat to yourself, there will be no need for that fire." Violet said and gestured behind my back.

I quickly extinguished the flame but I was still nervous. "What are you doing in my house? Are you Elementals too?" I asked. Violet nodded "we are the wind Elementals. Fara sent us to try and find you. Vanessa thought she heard something and tried to open the cabinet but a bunch of pans came tumbling out, sorry about that. But anyways, Fara sent us to tell you that we will be helping you find the water and earth Elementals." She said, then looked up and thought about what she said, then looked back at me and nodded.

Vanessa appeared beside me and I jumped. "Yep! Oh, sorry for scaring you." She said and patted my shoulder. "Well now that we've delivered the message we need to get home before our parents find out we're missing. Nice meeting you!" Vanessa said and then disappeared again. Violet waved and then disappeared too.

I walked back up to my room and sat on my bed. Did that actually just happen? I shook my head to make me less jumpy then drifted back to sleep.

After I woke up and got ready I headed downstairs. I saw my Dad fixing some pancakes and I sat down at the breakfast bar. He put a pancake on my plate then sat beside me. "Did you get a good nights sleep sweetheart?" My father asked. I nodded and began eating my pancake. My father learned a secret recipe for pancakes when he was searching for a hidden treasure in France. It's been my favorite ever since.

He smiled "I'm glad. The President said that dinner is arranged for next evening. Lindsey asked if you'd like to go dress shopping together tonight, I told her I'd tell you she asked. You should call her when your done." I nodded again and walked to the sink and scrubbed off my plate. I went back and hugged him "love you dad" I said "love you too sweetheart." He replied. "I have a meeting with my partner about the upcoming project in Peru. Don't forget to ask Lindsey if she wants to come with us. Bye sweetheart." He said and kissed my forehead then walked it the door and drove away.

I sighed and grabbed my phone. I dialed Lindsey's phone number and got sent to voice message. That's weird. She always answers. Always. Oh no.

I raced to Lindsey's house and knocked on the door repeatedly. Finally her younger sister, Ally, opened the door. "Lindsey isn't here Haily" she sighed and closed the door. I moaned and ran to the forest where we practiced my powers.

I saw Lindsey sitting in a tree stump and ran over. "Lindsey are you ok? You don't answer my call..I thought.." Lindsey cut me off and laughed "I'm fine silly. I didn't have my phone. I saw two girls walking away from your house, who were they?" She asked. I sighed with relief at hearing that my best friend was ok. "Their names are Vanessa and Violet. Their twins and wind Elementals. They came to tell me a message from Fara. She said that they were going to help me find the earth and water Elementals" I sat beside her and she nodded.

"Do you think the dravens will actually, you know, attack you for your powers?" Lindsey asked randomly. "I'll be fine Lindsey. I just have to keep my guard up. There's nothing to worry about." I replied.

At least I hoped there was nothing to worry about.
