Both Kayla and Layla put back on their t-shirts, thinking about their unusual backs. They knew they weren't normal, but THIS?

"Kayla, Layla take this." Their mom handed them a bottle of aspirin with two towels.

"Thanks!"

"So, what happened to your backs? This must be the worst night yet."

Kayla hastily took two pills and said, "Well, we honestly don't know."

"Could I see it?"

"Sure." Kayla and Layla turned and lifted their shirt to expose the "bone" like things.

Mrs. Cassidy gasped. (a.k.a. their mom). She put down their shirts and turned to look thoughtfully out the window.

"It couldn't be.......oh I should've known............" she looked close to crying when two pairs of curious eyes popped in front of her.

"What, mom, what?" Kayla asked.

"Oh nothing. Just I thought it was.......nevermind. the good thing is that both of you are alright." She hugged them and bade them good night.

Scene: in their room

*Kayla's POV*

"Layla, what do you think?" I asked.

"I don't know. We just have to keep it a secret for now, okay?"

"Sure." I don't know what it is with Layla. She can just keep a secret without any effect.

I tried to lay down on my back. I felt a sharp pricking sensation, like needles. Must still be tender, I thought. So I ended up lying down on my side, my least favorable position. Before going to bed, I looked over to see how Layla was sleeping. She was sleeping in the exact same position.

Scene: Larunde, lair of the Saskune

Thunder boomed overhead. Lightning raged the sky with all her fury. The palace of Larunde was cursed, by the son of the Larune king before he passed.

"Lakure, why have you come? Do you not see I am busy?" the king of the Saskune asked his grandson.

"Grandfather, I have news you must hear." Said Lakure.

The king turned annoyed eyes toward him. "And what is this news? It better be good for you to have come to me to talk about it."

Lakure turned his eyes toward him, for he had been bowing to him the whole time. "One of the seed of the royal house of Larune yet live. She walks among the mortals."

The king' eyes lit up with a hint of hope. "How do you know this?"

"I have seen it through the eyes of a mortal. She is indeed the daughter of Hakun, the late prince of the Larune. Her name is split between her soul in the mortal land. The good one is called Kayla and the dark one Layla. But her Larune name is Lua. She has been adopted and raised by mortals."

The kings eyes grew so wide, they seemed like they were going to pop out of his head. "This is great news indeed. We can be delivered of our curse by her, if we bring her back. Does you father, the crown prince, know of this?"

"Yes, he does."

"Then there is no more need for conversation. Go to the mortal lands and where the princess is and bring her back. She is the only one who can free us from our curse."

"Will do, my lord."

"Oh, and one more thing. You will go in disguise to find her, first in her school. Your mortal name is Ceduic."

Laruke looked like he was about to protest, but didn't. "I will do as you bid, my king. Until then await my arrival." He bowed again and left, spreading his black and white wings across the dawning sky.
