Chapter 2

For once in his life Jane was finally happy, he spent every second of every minute of every day with his precious daughter. They were inseparable and he made it clear that no one was allowed to take care of her except Teresa. Even with that Jane was only okay with it because Charlotte talked non-stop about her and she looked up to Teresa, so if Charlotte accepted her then she was okay. The only thing that irked him, that really got under his skin was the fact that this "Teresa" character had outwitted the most notorious serial killer without getting harmed in any way. All Jane knew was that she found his daughter, arrested Sophie, and reunited the two of them. But how? How did she do that? How did she find his daughter? Everytime he came up with a theory he only got bombarded with more and more questions. So he just dismisses those thoughts and focuses solely on his daughter.

Jane is outside, in the backyard, on the porch with Teresa sitting next to him, they both watch as Charlotte plays pretend with Ben. It's been about a week and Jane's getting frustrated with all the restrictions of being part of 'the witness protection program'. Sure Charlotte didn't mind but Jane did and someone (mainly the person sitting next to him) was going to get it. But when he's about to explode and just let it all out he hears his daughter laughing and she just smiles at him and in an instant the anger melts away. But he still needs to say something, anything.

"I'm going to enroll her in school."

He notes the flash of concern in her eyes and it hits him that this to is a restriction.

"She can't go to school either. Alright fine, lets keep her locked up."

"No you can enroll her, go for it."

He's a little surprised that she would say anything at all!

"What?"

"You are her father. So go for it. I just want you to realize that he'll track her down in an instant. Doesn't matter if you change her name."

"Are you saying that you haven't caught him yet?"

"No. I'm saying that you might as well have killed your daughter."

"You're dodging my question."

He's becoming frustrated and everything he's felt in the past week wells up inside of him. But being a mentalist has its perks and he pushes it back down unfortunately it's only making the matter worse.

"Jane we can't just tell you-"

"No, you mean you can't tell me."

"I'm sorry I just-"

"Save it. I'm making tea."

Accidentally slamming the door shut he just gave himself away, but that didn't matter, what mattered was for him to get out of this house!

"Jane wait please!"

He gets into the car and drives off, leaving a panicked/frustrated Lisbon in the dark. He checks the rearview mirror and sees her look of desperation and then she gives up and the desperation turns into disappointment. He stays on the road though driving above the speed limit and escaping that living hell of a house. He just wants to breathe. Is that a restriction to?

Heading over to a park he goes for a walk to just clear out his head. Jane knows he can't just yell in front of his daughter, so he needs to let off some steam. Of course Lisbon was following him and it was only matter of time before she found him.

Good. Let her come. Take it all out on her.
