She looked down at the phone. Her favorite ringtone, his beautiful face lighting up. She reached to grab it, but hesitated.

Bill.

Mabel picked up the phone and answered it shyly. "Hello?"

"Mabel." Bill's sweet voice soothed her soul.

"Hey."

"Listen, um,"

"Bill..."

"I miss you."

Mabel hesitated.

"I know it's only been a couple days but...I want you back." Bill sounded sincere.

She sighed. "I don't know what to think of you."

"Nothing happened between Pacifica and I, Mabel!"

The kiss...

Mabel frowned. "How can I trust you?"

"I love you, Mabel. I would never want to be with Pacifica! She's cruel, selfish,-"

"And beautiful." Mabel interrupted.

"Stop it."

"I can't undo what has been done, Bill."

"Please, Mabel,"

"Bill,"

"Come home." He squeaked.

Mabel sighed. "Bill."

"W-what?" Mabel had never heard him stutter before.

"I miss you." She exhales heavily. "But I still don't completely trust you. My great uncle Ford said in his journal to trust no one, especially demons."

"How can I prove that I love you?"

Mabel looks down. "I gotta go. I need to sleep."

Bill hesitated from the other side.

"Goodnight." She said.

"Goodnight, beautiful."

She hung up.

The next day, Mabel woke up to her alarm clock. She rubbed her eyes and stretched.

School starts today.

Mabel groaned and laid back in bed. "I don't wanna go."

Mrs. Pines knocked on her door. "Mabel, you up?"

"My alarm literally just went off, Mom." Mabel groaned again.

"Alright."

Mabel forced herself to get up and get dressed. Then she met Dipper downstairs for breakfast.

She looked at him as he ate cereal. "Dipper,"

He stopped reading the newspaper and looked up at her, still chewing on cereal.

"Bill called me last night." Mabel looks down.

Dipper swallowed the cereal. "Really? So soon? Well, what did he say?"

"He misses me."

"And what did you say?" He questioned.

Mabel hesitated for a second. "I miss him."

"Mabel-"

"But I don't fully trust him yet." She interrupted.

"I understand that." Dipper nods.

"Dipper," She looks at him, "please don't ever tell Mom or Dad. Not yet anyways."

Dipper nods. "Never."

Mrs. Pines came rushing through the kitchen. "You two better head to school early. Meet up with some people."

The twins looked at each other and slowly got up from their seats. They grabbed their backpacks and headed out for their first day back in school.
