The streets were cold. The pavement was nearly frozen. The cold months had just began, the family friendly spirit everywhere. Everyone was inside their houses, praising the fact that they were so caring for each other, for everyone around them.
Yet, no one turned to look back to a boy seated in that one alleyway. The boy was cold, lips blue and entire body shivering while the cold wind grazed his revealed skin, the cells in his skin cramping together to cherish the last bit of warmth.
No one spared the boy a glance. Everyone just kept walking, leaving the boy to freeze to death. It was as if everyone was so in love with the idea of caring and looking out for people, that they forgot that there were people who weren't lucky enough to experience that.
Jungkook sat there, in that cramped alleyway with only a grey tank-top, some jean shorts and a beanie on his head. One pair of cat ears poked through the two holes in the beanie and his tail broke free through the fabric of the jeans, creating a small hole in the pair.
''I will be back Jungkook, just wait here okay?!'' his owner had told him before wrapping his warm coat around him and walking off. It had been two weeks since that day, and his owner still hadn't returned.
But, Jungkook refused to leave the spot in the alleyway, for that his owner may come back one day and if he's not there waiting for him, he'll get punished.
So, Jungkook stayed out in the cold, awaiting the day that his owner would cross paths with him again. He moved a little, his hands slipping from his knees onto the cold ground. Jungkook couldn't find the energy to put them back on his knees, so they just laid there, growing colder and colder.
It was as if no one cared for the kitten, no one paid any mind to him. Granted, no one would just walk up to him and give him a house, but Jungkook had hoped that there would be some nice humans who would give him something warm to wear.
He hadn't left the alleyway since the day his owner dropped him off here. A few garbage cans stood in the alleyway so whenever the owner of the restaurant next door would throw away the left-overs, Jungkook would eat them.
How he survived in the cold? Simple, he warmed himself most of the time, but also sneaked up to the window of the restaurant if it was open, just to feel the warmth of their heater.
But, deep inside Jungkook knew that his owner wouldn't return, but the young kitten didn't want to believe it. His owner was a nice, kind and caring man. The man was old, around the age of sixty, but he was one of the most energetic people Jungkook had the pleasure of meeting. The man was generous and would never leave Jungkook without a reason, there must be a reason for it.
''I want you to connect me to him before the conference call tomorrow!'' Jungkook shot up as he heard someone yell out. His head had been aching all day, making him dizzy and sensitive to hard noises. He turned his head to the opening of the alleyway to see a silhouette standing there. Jungkook wasn't able to see the person their features, but he did hear the words the stranger spoke,
''I'll call you later.'' Jungkook presumed the stranger was talking to one of those things humans call phones. He shrugged it off and turned back around, staring at one of the walls. He had drawn some drawings on the wall with some small stones. The dizziness was getting worse as Jungkook tried to focus on one drawing.
''Hello?'' Jungkook stayed where he sat, mainly because he wasn't sure if the stranger was talking to him or not. A few moments later, a gloved hand placed itself onto Jungkook's icy shoulder, making the kitten hiss. He shot up, turning around to face the stranger with his teeth on display. Immediately, the world started to turn and his head started to ache even more, just because Jungkook moved too quickly.
