"What are you talking about?" I ask nervously. "The painting I started earlier of you? Don't you remember? You've only been gone for like two hours." the boy questions. I stand there staring at him as he raises an eyebrow at me. "I really think you have me confused with someone else, but I'll look at your painting anyway" I offer, hoping that my voice didn't fail me. "Whatever you say, anyway I started off with just you and then I remembered seeing you chase that white wolf earlier so this is what I ended up with, um..what do you think?" he says a little self consciously.
I look down at the painting the young boy is holding, it's me,in wolf form, sitting in this very clearing howling up at the moon, but the moon isn't just a moon, Lina's wolf is stepping out of the moon. I stare at the painting in complete shock, with a million questions going through my head. How did he know? Did he really know? Does he know what we are, or who we are? All of these questions were running through my mind, but asking them would only cause him to be suspicious if he didn't know.
"Wow, this is really cool, but I'm not a wolf." I tell him, letting how amazed I'm am leak into my words. He looks at me and laughs, "Well, I'm glad you like it, but you don't have to lie to me." he says, shrugging. "Why do you think that I'm that wolf?" I ask trying to sound genuinely concerned, rather then guarded. "Well, when I was younger my mother told me about these 'creatures' they transform from humans to wolves, she never actually said what they were called but I learned from books and movies that they are called werewolves, or shifters. Anyways my mother told me about one she met in the woods, in this clearing.
Boy's Memory (Mother's words)
I remember walking through the woods, it was one of the first days of summer, I was barely eighteen. I was just wondering through the paths, looking for a peaceful spot to sit and read. I stumbled upon a beautiful clearing, so I decided to stop searching. I found a nice place to sit and got my book out. I don't know how long I sat there reading but before I knew it daylight was fading and there I was, completely alone in these woods, no light to find my way home. I started walking back towards the direction I was sure I came from, when I stumbled into another clearing, only this one wasn't empty, there was a wolf lying in the middle of the field. I was so frightened. I slowly backed away, trying not to wake him but I tripped, waking the wolf, he jumped to his feet, my eyes widened, taking in the size of this creature, his head came at least to my chest. I stood slowly, our eyes locked, his eyes were terrifying, glowing and the color of blood. I screamed, panicking, I turned and ran. Only to hear him chasing me. I ran and ran but in the end the beast caught me, his growl echoing throughout the woods, stirring the sleeping animals, he attacked, jaws ripping at myback. I felt the flesh rip open, I was screaming at the pain, every tear hurt more than the last, but then it all stopped. The wolf had been pulled off of me, I turned, trying to get up, to crawl away, to do something, but it was useless. I looked back seeing two wolves in the clearing now, the new wolf was like a ghost moving through the air, it's silvery coat flying around the clearing, attacking the vicious wolf. I watched in horror, I was sure this wolf was going to finish me off. A loud howl, and a snap, signaled that their fight is over. The silver wolf slowly walks towards me, snout drenched in blood. I feel my body shaking, it's head leans down, licking the open wounds across my back. I close my eyes, crying silently, I feel my self being lifted into the air as the blackness takes over. When I awake, I'm lying in the clearing, my wounds are healed, only scars left behind. I stand slowly, trying to remember what had happened during the blackness. I hear a low whimper, I turn seeing the silver wolf lying a few feet away. I freeze as it stands up, "Stop" I yell hoping it won't come any closer, it doesn't. It only whimpers again, then takes the form of a man. I run, as fast as I can, when I get home my family tells me I've been missing for months, they tell me of a man who came to visit them, telling them I'm okay. I don't remember what happened in that time but the only thing I got from any of it was you my beautiful boy, and an aching heart for a man I hardly remember."
The boy tells me his mother's story, we are now sitting with our back against the log he keeps his paints in. "Wow, that's truly terrible, but why are you so sure I am this wolf?" I ask, gesturing to the picture as I think about the story. "Because when I asked my mother questions about the wolf-man she told me she would know him anywhere, as a wolf or a man, because of his vivid golden eyes." My body freezes. "She said that the wolf and the man had the same eyes, nothing like she had ever seen before in any human or animal. You have the same color eyes as the wolf, I had to mix so many colors of blue to get them right, when I saw you enter the clearing I knew you had to have been the wolf." he explains excitedly. "Are you okay?" the boy asks, touching my shoulder. With just one touch I feel it, the power ripple under his fingers. He doesn't know, but I'm almost certain his family does, I can feel the wolf and the magic.
"You said the man had golden eyes?" I ask, watching his reaction. "Yeah, why?" he says, raising an eyebrow. He doesn't know who the man is, but I do, just wish I didn't. "Can I trust you?" I ask, looking the boy directly in the eye's, only then I notice that they are two different colors, vivid gold around his pupils, then changing into an emerald green. "Yes, with your life" he says holding my stare.
I stand, walking a few feet from him before I turn around to face him. "I will show you what your mother was talking about, only if I can meet her, and you never speak a word of it to anyone." I tell him, letting my alpha tone leak through, he winces and nods his head. I remove most of my clothing, excluding my underwear, wouldn't want to shock the kid, and shift into my wolf. The boy jumps up, standing on top of the long, his eyes are wide with shock maybe even fear. I stand still waiting for him to gain control of himself. He slowly gets down, making way over to me. He stops about a foot away, "Can I touch you?" he asks, amazement and cautiousness leaking into his voice. I nod, he slowly step towards me running his fingers through my fur, "Wow! Oh, this is freaky, and awesome!" he laughs out. "Can you turn back?" he says looking directly in my eyes, I nod again, stepping back and scooping up my jeans, before running to the tree line. I shift, slip on my jeans and approach the boy. "Now let's go meet my mom!" he says excitedly. "Before we go, what's your name?" I ask, tired of calling him boy. "It's Connor, and yours?" Connor asks. "Well that certainly fits, and it's Khons." I laugh, shaking my head.
Okay, so message me and tell me what you think is going on.....so if any of you are wondering why Khons says Connor's name certainly fits, well there are two reasons, but I'll only tell you one, or I'll ruin my story! All of the names of my main characters, are important, if you look up the meaning you can see! It's pretty cool....anyway vote and comment guys! I've gotten quite a few reads for only six chapters!!! So I really want to know what you think!
