Reckless

Lina's POV

I stood there staring at him, completely confused after I took his hand. Just one touch, sent fire through my body. I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out, I couldn't think, couldn't speak, couldn't breathe, so I ran, I ran as fast and as far as I could. I could here the packs howl, my father howling commands for me to return, or for someone to find me, but I just kept running. I don't know how long I ran before I stopped to strip my clothes and shift. I wanted to be free, but being free means I have to be careful. I'm always careful, I just want to be normal, free and reckless. I tied my clothes to my ankle and shifted into my wolf, running this way I'm am unstoppable, faster than any other wolf I have come in contact with and being the Moon Goddess, they won't be able to track me this way. I took off running, trying not to think, just letting my wolf instinct take over. I don't really know why I am running from my mate, but I know that he doesn't want the life I have to offer him, he told me himself that day at the pool, he just wanted to be normal.

Khons's POV

It took me a moment to process what was happening, I stood there staring after her while she ran from me. I let out an antagonizing howl, hoping she would feel me and return. She didn't, just kept running. "Conri, she's gone! She just ran away, I'm going after her please send others!" I yelled, panicking, though the pack link. "Khons, speak in sentences, who is gone!" he yelled back, clearly sensing my panic. "Lina! Conri, I didn't tell her we were mates, she was going to show me where my brother had been moved to. She grabbed my hand and I guess she felt how strong it was, I.. I don't know she just bolted, she didn't even say anything, she just ran away from me!" I yelled, I was so hurt and so angry. " Follow her! I will send others, you have to catch her before she shifts, or we won't ever find her!" he ordered. I didn't understand what he meant about not being able to find her after she shifts but I knew better than to question his order.

I quickly stripped my clothing and shifted. I caught her sent, howling out so the others would know where to go. I followed the sent for what seemed like hours. "She's so fast!" I thought as I ran. "I know that's why we have to find her, if she shifts she's even faster but we will lose her sent, being a Goddess, when she shifts into her wolf form she has no sent, just like me, it's a defensive thing, in case we are in any danger or being followed, so we can't be used against our mate or husband since he is or would be the Alpha Omega." a female voice responds, who I recognize as our Mother of the Moon Thea, Lina's mother. " Oh, I had no idea." I say pushing myself faster than before, knowing now that I could possibly lose her forever.

We've been running for hours now, I growl in frustration. I run a little farther hoping to catch a stronger sent, suddenly I do, its as if she's standing right in front of me. I sniff around and look everywhere, I hear rustling, I look up to see her mother come out of the bushes in human form. She approaches me cautiously, patting my head, as I whimper.

"Go and shift" she tells me. I nod, quickly running to the closest tree, shifting and putting on the shorts I had from earlier. As I walk out from behind the tree, I see Thea walking in a circle around the spot I had smelled Lina the strongest at, mumbling and chanting something under her breath. I watched closely as the center of the circle lit with fire the color of the moon. She kept chanting and circling, the fire settled and a form appeared in the center, a beautiful silvery white wolf running through the woods, as we watched she quickly stopped and looked around. "Step through quickly!" her mother tells me. I look at the beautiful wolf and walk through the circle of fire.

It burns, the pain is so excruciating I can hardly breath but I must get to Lina. I open my eyes and see the wolf in front of me. "What are you doing!" she demands "Lina, please don't run from me. Have I done something wrong? I didn't know how to tell you, you... you didn't remember.. I just thought maybe you didn't want to. I'm so sorry." I say, pleading for her to listen. "I don't want this, you don't want this, I won't ask you to fight my father, when you yourself said you would never love me. Yet here you are begging me to come back with you. Have you changed your mind? Have you decided that being Alpha Omega would be worth it just to prove Rakeash wrong?" she asked, ripping my heart out of my chest. "NO! I could care less about being Alpha to any one, you are my mate! Lina, come back with me, I don't want to lose you, please?" I beg. "I'm sorry Khons but I will never love you" she whispers, as she turns and runs again. I shift, tearing through my clothes and run after her, I can hear her not to far ahead of me. I push myself faster until I can see her. I run after her, nipping at her heals. She growls loudly, as she launches into the air and disappears completely. I howl out in pain as my heart breaks inside my chest. I howl and howl letting all of the agony I feel out. I circle the area howling out and running myself until I can no longer move. I lay down next to the spot she disappeared at and fall asleep.

I wake to the sound of rustling. My ears perk up, as my eyes scan the area it came from, making sure not to move very much. I see a little movement and let out a growl, hoping I'm not in for a fight. A young boy steps out of the bushes and into the clearing. "Oh, um hi there, I'm just here to paint, please don't attack" he says dropping on to his hands and knees and quickly rolling on his back. I study him...maybe he thinks he's showing submission. I try my hardest not to laugh, just staying in my spot and lowering my head back to my previous position, without taking my eyes off of him. He gets up cautiously, walking over to a hollow log and retrieving a wooden box. "My paints" he says holding the box to his chest. He sets up an easel and opens his paints, slowly raises a pencil to his canvas, he keeps glancing at me every few moments. "I'm sketching you if you're wondering" he says casually like he's talking to another person not like he's talking to a wolf. I raise my eyebrows. He laughs and shakes his head. I lay there for a little while longer, "Finally, I'm done, now just to get your eye color right. Do you mind? he asks as he slowly approaches me. I lift my head, staying very still and open my eyes wide. His hand comes up to my ear and he starts to scratch a little, as he compares a few shades of blue, finally settling on one that he called Carribean. He backs away from me and then continues with his art work.

I get up onto my feet and head off to the opposite side of the clearing. "Leaving so soon?" he asks raising his eye brows. I let out a bark and continue on my way "I hope you find whatever you were looking for" he says as I walk out of the clearing. I return to where I jumped through the portal Thea opened. As I reach the spot it opens up, Conri comes through carrying clothing, shoes, and breakfast. "Get dressed and follow me" he says quietly. I nod, following his directions. I pull on the boxers, jeans and white v-neck, followed by socks and white high top Nikes. I follow Conri into the wooded area, when he abruptly stops. "Lina will come back, but for now I would like you to stay, and watch after that boy. Thea says if Lina let's her wolf completely take over she could easily kill him when she returns. We can't have innocent blood spilled because she has decided to be beyond reckless." he says, sounding completely disappointed, but under that I can hear the worry in his voice, I can see it in his eyes but it wasn't Lina he was worried about, I think maybe it was the boy? He got so...nervous? when he mentioned him. I shake off the suspicion and continue to listen to him talk. Finally we eat, "I'll bring you more food tonight, just meet me here" he tells me and continues to eat his sub. I nod and finish chewing so I can speak. "Okay, but Conri..I was wondering..how did Thea do that?" I ask stuttering through my words. "I'm not really even sure I know that, Thea once told me that her mother's parents were both wiches, but some how she was a wolf, then matted a wolf so maybe my wife is dabbling in which craft." he says letting out a sigh.

I nod, letting my mind wonder, what if she was teaching Lina? Maybe that's how she disappeared into thin air? I was taken out of my thoughts as Conri patted me on the back and said goodbye. "If you get hungry before I return just mind link me and I'll send someone." he says, waving as he steps through the portal. I walk back through the woods not bothering to shift back into my wolf. As I get to the clearing where Lina disappeared I am completely lost in my thoughts, I walk over to the spot I had been laying before. I look around, taking in my surroundings and notice the boy from earlier leaning on the log he had gotten his paints from completely passed out. I walk over to him, observing his appearance, he doesn't seem to be homeless. I lean over and lightly shake his shoulder "hey kid, wake up" he jumps up, taking a somewhat defensive stance. "Sorry, I'm not gonna hurt you, but you shouldn't be sleeping out here, there are wolves, and God knows what else." I 'warn' laughing too myself because I'm clearly the wolf I'm referring to. "look I'm not worried about the wolves, we both know they don't normally attack humans and besides you left before I got to show you my painting." he says shrugging his shoulders.

Okay so I'm well aware that this part is slightly confusing, but I needed a new character and this kid is going to make all of my plans happen....I hope, also I left off here because the next part is kind of about the kid and the painting but other stuff too....sorry I haven't updated in a while, had the flu and really haven't had time to write.. vote, comment,  read... all that good stuff but really let me know what you think! Oh and I have a picture of what I imagined her wolf as but I don't know how to post it for you to see.....please let me know if you do...thanks <3 AnnaKay
