Chapter 10

"Alex, I was trying to tell you something." Catherine says while I enter the room.

"What was it?" I ask sitting next to her on the bed.

"Don't get mad at me, please." She says while I notice that she's been crying.

"What's wrong?" I ask while putting my hand on her shoulder.

"I have to leave tomorrow." She says while putting her head down and tearing up.

"What why?!" I ask looking over at her and hugging her tight to give her comfort.

"My mom. She's in the hospital." She says while she bursts out crying. I squeeze her tighter to show her that I'm here and I wipe away her tears.

"Why is she there?" I ask while trying to calm her down.

"She...she had a heart attack." Catherine continues as more and more tears fall down her cheeks.

"It's going to be alright, I'll help you pack and I'll make sure you have fun tonight. Don't worry Cat she's going to be okay." I reassure Catherine and get up and walk towards my cabinet. I grab a little blue box with a white bow on top.

"I wasn't going to give you this until your last day, but here." I say handing her the box. She stops crying as much and grabs the box.

"What is it?" She asks while wiping away her tears.

"Remember how you said that you wanted something to make it feel like I'm always with you?" I ask hoping she'll remember.

"Yeah." She says smiling and looking over at me.

"Well, I got you a ying yang necklace. Anytime you need me the most just hold onto it and remember that I'm always with you." I say as I tear up and so does she.

"Thank you." She says as she opens the box and leaning in to hug me.

We are both crying, it's a happy kind of crying.

"Here look. I have the other half." I say wiping away my tears and sniffling. I take out the other half of the necklace from under my shirt and show it to her.

She takes her necklace out the box and hands it to me while turning around and picking her hair up.

"Put it on hoe, HURRY!" She says while I laugh and put on the necklace. She starts to hold it tight.

"What are you doing." I ask while giggling a little.

"You said that whenever I need you to hold it." She says while smiling and letting go.

"Well yeah but I'm here with you right now." I say while pushing her shoulder.

"Yeah I know but I never want to not be with you." She says while I look at her with furrowed eyebrows.

"You're so f*cking corny!" I say while we both laugh and fall back onto the mattress.

"WAIT LOOK!" I say all excitedly. I sit up and she follows and I grab my necklace and hers and put them together. We both just stare at it and I guess she expected more. After a long 30 seconds of staring we both just end up laughing for no reason.
