Dammit, I think along with a string of profanities. How did I happen to forget about the most dangerous threat-threats-in this building! After I finished cursing my impetuous actions, I rose from the bed and silently walked over to the bathroom door. I placed my ear against the door but heard nothing. Stretching my tense neck from side to side I prepared for what was behind the door, closed my eyes and knocked. Once, no reply. Twice, still nothing.
“Celina,”I yell out loud. “It better just be you in there!”
“Today’s been crazy enough.” I mutter and the door immediately swings open. I jump back and nearly punch the figure in front of me. My roommate stands by the fully opened door with a puzzled expression at my fist in front of her face.
“Yes? Why have you been yelling my name?” she questions looking back at me, her eyes slightly glowering in annoyance.
I gulp once and give her an easy smile but lower my arm.
“Nothing! I was going to ask you something about our classes but I forgot.” I reply shaking my head.
“3 years as roommates, and not once can you even muster an apology.” Celina replies closing the door. “I was never good at those and I regret nothing!” I shout back at her as I let out a long sigh and return back to my bed. I close my eyes and slowly drift away but never quite relax, knowing that threats are walking amongst myself, disguised and armed.

It was hours past curfew yet I still couldn’t sleep. Every noise made caused my eyes to fly open and look around. That’s why I heard his footsteps before I see him signal at me to leave my room. I slowly crept out of bed and made my way to the hall. Celina groans and shifts as I do, but continues to rest. When I turn around and hear the glass doorway slide closed behind me, I notice that no Sentries accompanied him. Good, I would’ve probably killed them if they did.
“Any update you would like to inform me on?”
“I’m sure you already know of the incident.”
“Yes, the intruder escaped I am aware of that. But I’m also aware that he happened to take you hostage” Dr. X doesn’t acknowledge that there are 2 of them instead of 1 but instead of telling him that I bluntly state what had preoccupied my mind since the incident occurred.
“Sir, Sentries attempted to kill me today, are you aware of that?”
“Oh Rye, Rye, Rye” Dr. X softly repeats as he approaches me. I stiffen as he whispers in a hushed voice. “I ordered you to follow a very specific set of instructions.” He paused as his hands shifts inside his lab coat. “However, because you disobeyed them by falling into the hands of the threat-even if temporarily-made you a possible liability. I do whatever requires the safety of everyone here, so I did what was required.”
He pulls out an object I’m strangely not immediately able to identity.
“I commanded them to do so.” he smirks menancily and before I could register what happened, a bullet hits my side. I look down in horror and see the blood start to pour out. I feel nothing but a lump forms in my throat. I look back at Dr. X with wide eyes and try to scream but no noise comes out. He taps the gun in hand on his cheekbone as I begin to fall.
“Hush Rye just apply pressure.” he states in a soothing tone. I land on my hands and knees on the cold tiled ground but place my hand on the wound. A sharp pain shoots up my spine and I clench my teeth, tasting metal in my mouth. My breathing start to quicken as it comes to my realization that a pool of blood, my blood is forming. Dr. X continues to repeat my name as he slide steps around me.
