Getting the gate to open took quicker than I had initially expected. As it turns out, Levii had another tool in his bag that Xander was able to cut through the wrought iron and take out a large section of it, big enough for Levii to easily pass through. “Ok now you're out, you're welcome by the way brother.” Xander says his voice booming off the walls of the tunnel.
Levii simply shakes his head in response and turns to me, still not quite meeting my eyes."So you agreed to this?" He asks taking the device from his brother's hand and putting it in the bag.
"Uh, more so I was deceived and uninformed the entire duration of this trip so to make this short, no. And your brother seems to be more of a jerk than you made yourself to be." I sigh looking at the walls which were engraved with carvings and also covered in graffiti. Good, sound like you weren't affected whatsoever by what just occurred.
“Well, that must’ve suck. But its appreciated that you came nonetheless.”
“Um, it wasn’t a huge problem, if at all…”
“...”
“...”
"Um hello? Right here just so you two flirting loners know. And trust me goldie-eyes you'll warm up to me, like every other girl has." Xander pipes up. At his remark Levi immediately starts walking away from us muttering away to himself. He then asks aloud when he notices Xander and I weren't following him, "Are we leaving or not?"
"Yeah, Rye lead the way." Xander motions to me and for some peculiar reason Levii stops and strides over to his brother. He then roughly grabs his brother by the collar of his jacket and pushes him against the wall.
"Are you telling me that if she declined you would have no idea how to get us out?" He started his grip not tightening or loosening.
"Would you?" He asks again. Based on his heat of the moment anger radiating off of him, I recall a lesson I was taught by one of my professors.
'Anger is an emotion that to some may be hardest to control in the given circumstances. However in some cases where anger seems to appear precipitously, it's been proven that something lurks beneath the emotion. Whether it be another emotion that is being willed to not be expressed or a troubling thought or memory, cases such as these are not to be taken lightly. Be suspicious and always question what is the root of the anger. For some it may be the only way to express a foreign feeling and in more common cases, a distraction from something bigger. When interrogating or prying for information make sure to discover the root of the anger and most importantly-use it to your advantage.'
"Levii calm down, have you gone to Clara since we left?" Xander calmly asks his brother as if used to this behavior. No signs of an accelerated pulse or any sign that he was in pain. Yet, I found myself placing a light yet firm hand on Levi is shoulder.
When my hand touched the fabric of his shirt he tensed even more but continued to stare down at his brother. “Maybe I did, maybe I didn’t. I told you already Clara said-”
"Let go of him, you're acting irrationally." I wasn't even sure why I decided to step in, it just seemed like a reflex, natural almost. For a second I thought he wouldn't listen to me, but after a moment of silence he let go. Levii’s different colored eyes looked glassy but as he stepped back to the opposite wall he seemed vulnerable and deep in thought. After awhile he seemed to be coming back his senses and looked back between Xander and I. Putting back on the glasses he started off again, much slower this time allowing us to catch up. But for some strange reason I couldn’t stop thinking about who this ‘Clara’ is to the two of them. Are you seriously trying to trick yourself. Maybe you just care about who she is to Lev- stop, you care less about this individual. You don’t even know her, she could be their caretaker!
