I stand there minutes after he had turned the corner until I could finally regain myself. I ponder if I should return to my class and tell Jax that I wasn't going to return but I decide to walk back to my room. He’s smart enough to understand something important occurred if I didn't return. When I reach my dorm, I immediately head to my dresser and take out articles of clothing based on what seemed essential.  I pack just a white and black shirt, 4 pairs of my bullet proof under amour, dark green bottoms and a couple of daggers I had never returned to the Dome. I lace up the black boots left on my bed, retie my hair, and take a deep breath. I was going to be leaving for the 1st time.

After I finish packing, a Sentry waits for me outside of my door and I stare at him blankly. My mind races with thoughts as to whether or not I could trust this Sentry to not kill me. He says nothing and I sling the black backpack I found under my bed over my shoulder nervously. I nod at him and he gives me no response. He simply began to walk down the right side of the hallway, his gun ready with the safety off at his side.

I meet Dr. X and his small group of Sentries after exactly 29 minutes of walking past checkpoints, down empty stairways and across endless hallways. I felt dizzy after it all of the walking, and I knew there was no way I’d be able to perfectly remember the entire route. That’s the point, a small voice in my head commented.

We approach the group and strop in a small circle. The tense silence passes when Dr. X's clears his throat

“Your necessary medications are going to be distributed to you now, instead of when we settle in. These are modified so that you do not need to take another batch for 1 week at most.” Why didn't you give this to me before? I question as I take the 3 strange white pills in my palm.

“Your body wasn't strong enough to handle them, so it was decided that you would be taking them after you graduated.” he replies as I realize that I'd spoken aloud. The pills are bitter on my tongue but I swallow them down my dry throat.

After Dr. X has a conversation with the rest of the Sentries regarding the security of the building, he gestures towards me to approach him. I do and in a low voice he says “Your mission is completely confidential and you will be informed the details when we board.” I shake my head slowly and then I’m handed a long black coat. The Sentries and Dr. X form a small triangle formation but I stand a bit behind.

“It’s going to be colder than what you're accustomed to...outside. I suggest you put that on” Dr. X says not turning his head to face me. A Sentry breaks from the formation and approaches the metal doors, taking off his glove and placing his hand on it. The metal doors ripple and I realize that its an illusion. He nods to Dr. X before saying in a raspy voice “Its ready for passage.”

My mouth opens slightly but I silently follow the group, literally, through the doors. Instead of appearing on the “outside” immediately, I see that a long yet wide tunnel leads to a slowly rising exit. That's where the outside lies... Around me are railings on either side but lights surrounding the entire the tunnel give off a blue hue. The flooring was made of a clear yet hard and brittle substance called glass. Etched in the glass were tiny green lines that's designed looked like a maze. But each step made left a neon white outline of our shoes. Well, this is cool, I think describing the marvel with the word that was quite popular with our ancestors long ago.

“Rye. Please hurry.” Dr. X says impatiently as the rest of the group was already headed towards  the end. I ran the rest of the way, reaching them in a matter of seconds.

“Sorry Sir.” I breathe.

“Its understandable.” he waved off as we finally went through the light and reached the outside. My body starts to tingle as cold air brushes past my skin. I decide to put on the coat and instantly feel warmer.
