After choir, Death, Imagination, and I all walked upstairs, still singing "Safe and Sound." After we got all of our stuff together, I left with Imagination for advisory. Once we sat down, the announcements started blaring through the speakers. At the end, the woman on the intercomm said, "And may Death Sydley and Life Sydley please come to the office. Thank you, and have a great day." I grabbed all my stuff and slowly headed out of the room, with everyone's eyes on me. I met up with Death in the hall, and we walked in to Mrs. Leader's office. Once we were sitting at her desk, she began to explain why we were there. "Girls, I suppose you have been hearing of things like 'the prophecy' and 'twin powers,' correct?" We both nodded. "Well, you're here to learn what those are. The prophecy was something foretold many centuries ago, in the dark ages. Back then, people were just learning about powers, and only a certain few had them. One of those few was a man named Prophet Williams. His power, as you could guess, was seeing into the future. He didn't know how to control his power, like we do, and ended up having 'prophecy attacks,' in which he had a vision of the future. He later recorded them in plays and stories. One of the biggest predictions he made was called 'Twin Powers.' It was about two twin girls, much like you two, who had opposite powers. The prophecy went like this: 'Many years from now, two twins will be born with drastically different powers. So different, they can potentially destroy each other. These twins cannot coexist, and the stronger one will take dominance.' Look, girls, I know this is kind of a lot for you to take in, but it is a serious matter. We believe you two are the twins in the prophecy." Death and I looked at each other, and some stuff started floating out of Mrs. Leader's desk. She looked at us. "I see you two have started to develop the Twin Powers. That was a different part of the prophecy: 'These twins will show signs of uncontrollable power surges, which may sometimes be fatal.' You girls need to keep your powers in check, okay? I know you don't know how to control them yet, but as the prophecy said, they can be fatal, and we don't want anyone getting hurt here." I was literally shaking in my boots, but Death looked completely calm. We both knew she was much stronger than me, and I knew where that would lead. "I'm sorry to put this all on your shoulders, but you had to find out sooner or later. Thank you for coming. You can go back to... second period." She showed a fake smile and pushed us out the door. Death had to help me back to class because of my freaking out.
