Death's Mind
I looked around me, and saw nothing but darkness. I tried to feel for something, anything, but there was nothing. I felt only the ground beneath me, and tried to push up. When I pushed on it, it was cold and hard, and I was forced off the ground into the air. I felt like I was floating. Suddenly, felt a smooth wall next to me, and when I hit it, a blinding flash of light came from it. When my eyes adjusted, I saw Life, lying on a cot somewhere. She looked peaceful, up until I saw the gaping wound in her side. "Did... Did I do that?" I asked myself. "Yes, we did." an echo answered. I put my hands up in defense, and they started glowing purple. "Who's there?" My voice shook. I sounded weak. "Me, of course. Well, you. I am you." "What do you mean, 'you are me?' There is only one of me." I started to lower my fists. "We are one in the same. I am you, and you are me. Except, you are the good part of me. The smallest, tiniest ray of light in all this darkness." I turned around, and saw myself walk out of the shadows. It was me, but I had been bruised and covered in blood- blood I feared wasn't my own. "What's going on?" I asked her. She walked up to me, and pulled my chin forward with one crimson hand, squashing my cheek into my teeth, and swept a piece of hair out of my face. "Oh, sweet, innocent child. You are dead! You only exist in my head. You no longer have acess to the real world, only to this...screen. It shows you what you wish to see." I stood staring in shock at the screen. "So... This... This is in the real world?" She nodded, grinning. "Did...Did you do this?" She nodded again, smiling wider. I broke into tears. "Don't worry, child. It will only get worse." She cackled, walking away.
