Kyoko's POV~
I held the portrait of my family and I in my hands and started at it in silence in my new room in this new hideout.
Mom... Dad.... Hana... I felt like crying, but anger mixed in with the sadness. I'll kill him. Just you see.
Sasuke opened the door and I glanced at him. I placed the picture next to me. "Do you need something?" I asked him.
He sat down next to me and picked the picture up. "You were thinking about them again, weren't you?" He smirked at me and placed the picture in my lap. "Is there ever a day when you don't look at this thing?"
I looked away. "I'm sure you think of your family sometimes, too."
"Maybe," he admitted.
I turned around and looked at him in surprise. Did he just actually admit something like that?
There was an awkward silence between us until he spoke up. "Do you want to train?"
"I can't. I have to do something for Orochimaru in a bit."
"Okay."
I put my head on his shoulder and he seemed a bit startled at my sudden movement. "Don't you have to go, dobe?" he asked.
"I'm tired... Let me rest for a bit."
He stayed quiet and we stayed this way for a bit. My breathing slowed a bit and I guess he thought I was asleep because he put his arm around me and on my shoulder.
Has he always been this nice? Or did I just never notice it?
"I... have to get going," I said after a while and he smoothly removed his arm like nothign happened.
"Hn." He got up and left my room without another word.
When he closed the door, I sighed and got up. I grabbed a black cloak and a warm outfit for the land of snow. I grabbed my blades and pouch full of paper bombs and kunais and shurikens and walked out of the door.
* * * * *
It would have been better if I traveled with someone so it wouldn't be lonely.
I yawned from the boredom. I had put the black cloak around me so people wouldn't recognize me from my hair or physical structures. I had the hood up.Or maybe Orochimaru sent some people to spy on me just in case....
The thought lingered in my mind for a moment. Nah... He would know if I ran away since I have a curse mark.
I read inside my pocket and took out the mission scroll Orochimaru gave to me in case I forgot where I was suppose to go.
"Land of Snow.... Lord Masori...." I mumbled to myself. "Okay," I spoke to myself and held the scroll in my hand. I sighed. Why did he choose me anyway? Why not one of his wacky experiments?
???'s POV~
I hid in the trees above Kyoko. It seemed as if she didn't notice I was there, so I chose not to show myself. Her face clearly showed what she was thinking.
I smirked and thought to myself. Silly... Do you think Lord Orochimaru would let you go off by yourself on this kind of mission?
He's already suspicious of you being rebellious towards him. Don't take him as a fool!
Kyoko's POV~
I heard it.
The sound of another footstep behind me. I turned around instantly, but saw nobody. Must be in the trees...
I took another few slow steps and heard the soft movement of the leaves.
"Who's there?" I asked outloud.
I heard laughter above me and it irked me. "You finally noticed me. I was about to take you as a genin."
Well, I technically am... Since I was never officially promoted to chunin or jonin back at the leaf village.
"How long have you been following me?" The person still hadn't showned himself. Is it an enemy?
"Geez... I can't believe that you're a candidate as a vessel for Lord Orochimaru's body..." The person jumped down.
My eyes widened at his appearance. The dark blue eyes that matched his hair perfectly... Light fair skin that looked untouched.
Is he really one of Orochimaru's experiments? I thought about the ones that looked terribly deformed.
"Why hadn't you shown yourself earlier?"
"I was merely testing your skills. It's quite obvious that you won't be able to survive this mission."
This guy.... is SERIOUSLY starting to piss me off MAJORLY. "You... You're a bastard."
"You're right. I am a bastard."
Holy shit! Did he just admit that?! I raised my arm up to my face while still holding the mission scroll. In an instance, he swiped it out of my hands and opened it.
"You realize the Land of Snow is in the opposite direction, correct?" he asked me.
"Shut up! It's not my fault that I've never been to the Land of Snow!"
He sighed. "Some along now...Kyoko-sama..." He turned around and started walking in the direction he stated.
I huffed. Rude! Really rude! AND WHY DO ALL THE EXPERIMENTS CALL ME -SAMA?!?!
I realized something and gasped. "Ah! I forgot! What's your name?"
"It's.... Ren..." he said softly, almost as if he didn't want to state it.
I shouldn't have asked that... I jogged up to him and walked beside him silently.
Ren's POV~
My eyes lingered over to Kyoko, who was walking without another word. She suddenly tripped on a rock and landed on her face. I nearly facepalmed.
Let's hope her combat skills are better than what I see now...
"Of course. Why else would Orochimaru-sama pick her for this mission?" I nearly heard Kabuto say.
Ugh... That bastard Kabuto... let's hope that she's at least half of what you told me about her...
