Chapter 3- I Hate Smalltowns

Ren's POV~

   It had taken us a while since we had first headed in the wrong direction. We arrived at a town and Kyoko flipped the hood of her cloak back on. 

   "Ren... You can stay here. I'll go get some supplies for us."

   "Why must I stay here?"

   "You don't have a cloak to disguise yourself with. I'm sure Orochimaru must've sent you on other missions before. You must be in the bingo book already."

   No wonder why I felt like I was missing something when I left the base. This girl.... is actually smarter than she looks. 

   "Alright. Don't take too long otherwise I'll come looking for you."

   She smirked at me. "Of course."

   Damn it! What is taking that girl so long?! 

   It had been nearly half an hour since she went into town. At most, it should've taken her about fifteen!

   "Ugh... I guess I have no choice then..." It looks like a small town. Maybe they won't recognize me from the bingo books. 

   I went into town to look for her. 

   She better not be dead or else Orochimaru-sama and Kabuto will have my head!

   Well... especially Kabuto.... A small flashback of his nagging about her gave me chills up my spine. He'll probably put me in boiling oil and then skin me alive. 

Kyoko's POV~

   "That'll be 800 yen," the old lady at the cash register said with a smile. 

   I took out the money and gave it to her. "Thank you very much! Have a nice day!" she said as she inputted the cash and I gathered my boguht items. 

   "Have a nice day..." I said back to her. 

   I was walking back to where Ren was waiting and hummed a little tune to myself. He''ll be surprised to see that I got him a cloak so he won't be bored the next time we see a town or village.

   The wind blew violently and the hood of my cloak came off. Shit! I cursed mentally. 

   I hurried to put my hood back on, but three huge guys stepped in front of me. I had to say..... THEY WERE HIDIOUSLY UGLY. 

   "Hey, you're pretty cute." The one in the middle said. 

   "Why don't you play with us?" The one on the right said. 

   I mentally paniced inside. Damn it! I could kill these guys... but not in the middle of a freaking town where other ninjas might be!

   "Ah... No..." I said frantically. 

   The one on the left grabbed the wrist of my right arm. "Why not? We know you want to..."

   Gah! Someone!

Ren's POV~

   I received strange glances from the townspeople as I walked through town. Maybe because my hair and eyes stood out.

   I should buy a cloak while I'm here.... 

   "Ah... No..." I heard a familiar voice say frantically. 

   "Why not? We know you want to..." said a really freaky voice. Well, I've heard freakier.... but I would categorize that as freaky. 

   I turned to look and saw that idiot girl being harrassed by three wanna-be gangsters.

   She'll so owe me for this... 

Kyoko's POV~

   I opened my mouth to say something else, but a set of arms suddenly wrapped around me and held me tight.

   "Sorry guys, but she's taken already."

   Ren?! What the hell? I was about to yell at him, but he put his head down to my shoulder and whispered into my ear. 

    "Just play along."

   Oh.... Smart idea. 

   I turned around and hugged him. "Kiyoshi!" I thought of an alternate name in an instant and I could see him sweatdrop a bit from the bizare name. "These guys were trying to harrass me! Help!"

   "They were?" I could feel a killing intent coming off of him and I sweatdropped. 

   Way to take acting seriously....

   The three guys immediately backed off. "Naw, man! We were.... We were asking if she needed help!" They ran away as fast as they had came. 

   I sighed with relief and let go of him the same time he let go of me. "Thanks, Ren..."

   "At least you were actually being smart against those guys. Any other idiot would've killed them off and cause chaos in town."

   Any.... Other... Idiot....? "DID YOU JUST INSULT ME?!"

   "More or less.... Any other smart person could've understand instantly."

   Damn this bastard!

Fast Forward~

   "For the record... I don't want to go into a town or village by myself again." I sighed and sat down as we set out things down near a campfire we built in the woods.

   "You talk as if you have many times."

   "Well... I used to travel a lot when I was much younger..."

   "Oh..." A deep sorrow seemed to reflect in his eyes. "Was it fun?"

   Ah! That's right! He's an experiment so it's usual that he hasn't been out of the base often!

   "Well... Um..." I scratched the back of my head nervously. "I was training throughout the entire time so...."

   "I see...."

   "....."

   There was an awkward silence. I shouldn't have.... said something such as that.

   He broke the silence. "But how do you not know where the Land of Snow is if you say that you traveled quite a lot?"

   An irk mark was on my forehead. "Shut up! I never bothered to go there, okay?!"

   "Even I, who was confinded for as long as I can remember, knows where it is."

   "THAT DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING! I NEVER STUDIED MAPS WHEN I WAS LITTLE, OKAY?!"

   "Pft-"

   "Pft?"

   "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!"

   I was taken back from his laughter. What the heck?!

   "You're a bigger idiot than I thought you were! What has Kabuto ever seen in you?!"

   I facepalmed. Ugh... I bet everyone knows about Kabuto's obsession with me... 

   "How am I suppose to know what that dobe has been thinking?"

   "There's nothing special about you besides your clan name. You're ugly..."

   I felt a stab.

   "A complete idiot..."

   Another stab. 

   "And clumbsy as hell!"

   Stab. 

    "UGH! I'LL KILL YOU!" I yelled.
