Chapter 24

APOV

When Sarah collapsed all of us, except for Nico, ran over to her, she had been throwing fire water at us for about five minutes before we brought her out of the vision.

"She's not dead, not even close. She'll be fine in a little bit." Said Nico from.

"How do you know?" Asked Danial.

"Being a son of Hades has some perks. I can sense when someone is close to death." Nico responded.

"Can you teach me how to control my power, my dad told me you could help, but you're not much older than me. Can you even train us?" Danial asked.

"Yes I can train you, if you don't believe me pick up your scythe. In fact, everyone get your weapons, while we wait for her to wake up I can train you." Said Nico, he glared at Danial so intensely that he flinched.

"You use a sword, how are you going to train me to use my scythe?" Asked Danial.

"Attack me." Said Nico.

"But you don't even have your sword. How are you going to fight back?" Asked Danial. He asks way to many questions.

"Just do it already. I know what I'm doing." Said Nico.

Danial began to advance on Nico, who stood there not doing anything. When Danial attacked, Nico swung his dagger fast and caught the scythe in the corner between the blade and the staff.

"You're slow." Said Nico.

Danial just stared at the dagger in Nico's hand.

"Where did that even come from, it didn't look like you were holding anything." Said Danial, amazement evident in his voice.

"You aren't very perceptive. The dagger was in its sheath on my belt, I pulled it out and moved it in the path of your swing. You move way to slow, if I were an enemy you would have died before you were half way done with your swing. Not only that, you're already tired and you only swung once." Said Nico.

"I'm glad we're not enemies." Said Danial.

"At the moment we are. Keep attacking." Said Nico, I saw a glint of amusement in his eyes when Danial turned even more pale than he already was, but it quickly disappeared.

"But I don't want to." Danial complained.

"If your to scared to fight me, I can't wait to see your reaction when you have to fight some real enemies. Attack. Me. Now." Said Nico, he sounded irritated.

"Can the others help me?" Asked Danial.

"If they want to, just know that you might not always have people around to help you." Nico answered.

Danial looked at all of us.

"We can do this." He said when the rest of us just stared back at him.

Well, it is five against one, those are some pretty good odds.

"I'll help if everyone else does." I said as I pulled my sword out of it's sheath.

When we all had our weapons we looked at Nico, and he was smiling evilly. I realized that I had calculated wrong, it was five kids versus one Nico. And I realized we were screwed.

"No backing out now. Oh this is gonna be fun." Said Nico, he pulled out his sword and held it in one hand and the dagger in the other.

All five of us charged at him. It took him less than a minute to disarm all of us.

"Wow. That was disappointing. I expected to take less than thirty seconds to disarm you, it took me thirty-one." He said.

"You're kidding me right. That's what you were disappointed by, not how bad we were?" Asked Jack.

"Well, now that you all know that I do actually know what I'm doing." He glared at Danial again when he said this. "Let's actually train now."

Out of nowhere a bunch of skeletons climbed out of the ground.

"These will be your training dummies, I'll teach you how to fight." Said Nico.

And so, we trained for about an hour then Sarah woke up.

"Ummmmmmmmmmmm... what did I miss while I slept?" She asked.

"Nico kicked our butts. Now he's training us how to kick other people's butts." Said Jack.

"Now that you're awake we should probably start moving. I'll call Mrs. O'Leary and we'll ride her to where I think this prison might be." Said Nico, he hadn't even broken a sweat while he fought us and trained us, the rest of us were soaked in sweat.

"Really, shouldn't we try to get some sleep, we don't even know for sure if the prison is where you think it might be. We should all try to get some sleep, Sarah can take first watch since she just woke up, the rest of us will take turns sleeping and being on watch." I said.

When Nico looked over at me, I saw so many different emotions in his eyes that it scared me. There was pain, fear, hate, sadness, and so many more.

"I'm going to say this once. Our friends won't last much longer if we don't rescue them as soon as possible. You may not know all of them as well as I do, so they may not matter as much to you, but they matter more to me than sleeping. If you want to sleep I'm leaving to go search for them by myself. I'm going to leave in five minutes, choose now what you're going to do." He said, then turned and walked away.

"What's his problem?" Asked Danial.

"I don't know." I said, the rest of our group were to shocked to say anything.
